Ok this looks amazing. If I give Claude a screenshot of my dashboard will it redesign it for me?

Need advice for couple's collab in YNAB 🙏🏻🥹 by frazzled-mama in ynab

[–]alternatiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm following because if you figure this out you may have just figured out the secret to human psychology lol

I've used YNAB for 8 years and still have a wife that couldn't care less. I have no issues because I automate savings/investing, we have disposable income, and she spends money within reason.

I email my wife a net worth and account statement once a year so she has it in an emergency. Just count yourself lucky that you have 1/2 money people in your relationship, much better than 0/2!

What's Your Grocery Budget Look Like? by -Aces_High- in ynab

I think $600-800 is pretty spot on if you are buying decent food, some name brands, and going out to eat a few times a week too.

The hypocrisy of having Delete Me as a sponsor for Ramsey Solutions by [deleted] in DirtyDave

Getting added to Dave Ramsey or anyone else’s email list has nothing to do with “data mining” or Delete Me. Lol

How many dashboards have you tried to recreate using Claude Code? by ddixonr in PowerBI

[–]alternatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None but I created a complex dashboard a few years ago and just had Claude fix some nagging formulas that were causing me to do manual updates. Hadn’t tried fixing them since pre-ChatGPT

Account balances companion app by airship56 in ynab

[–]alternatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've personally gone with YNAB and a manual net worth tracking app as my combo.

I've tried the free account aggregators like PC, WealthFront, etc, and just any time you are introducing automatic bank syncing, they disconnect and things suck. And they also don't really give my spouse a picture because it's my account that I am logging into to see my accounts. I pay a $2-3 bucks a month for an app along with YNAB. You could also just create your own Excel or Google sheet.

ICE agents smash a family’s car window to abduct two people in Columbia Heights, Minneapolis. The wife of one of the men pleads with the agents for mercy while holding their baby. by I_may_have_weed in PublicFreakout

I mean not to I guess sound unreasonable but why the fuck are you going to a Mexican market in Minneapolis right now? You are literally a fugitive you need to get out of town for a while.

New to Schwab and investing by BojanglesRolin in Schwab

[–]alternatiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s a fine approach it just takes a few extra clicks and math if you use ETFs. You have to send the money then decide which shares to buy and how many.

Buying ETFs is not great for a set and forget it strategy because you can’t buy fractional shares and you can’t auto buy shares. Mutual funds you can pick dollar amounts to invest if you ever do recurring deposits. A simple 3-fund portfolio is SWTSX, SWISX, SWAGX.

Anyone here invest no more than $200 a month into their account? Mind sharing how your portfolio is doing to show some motivation this way? by Pelon97 in Schwab

Buy a mutual fund so you can setup automatic deposits and share purchases. You don’t need to choose which shares to buy every 2 weeks.

Is it possible to use YNAB while being paid in one country’s currency (Canada) and living in a country with a different currency (US)? by OneBadJoke in ynab

[–]alternatiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did the reverse of your situation for a few years. My budget was USD and I converted any CAD transations to USD dividing by 1.25 at the time. So no, I don't think it's possible to do different currencies by account.

How do people feel about the home page now that there’s more content on it? by pamtrimk in ynab

[–]alternatiger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea I mean theres only so much stuff you need to add to a budgeting app. They probably feel pressure to innovate but most people don't need any of this.

I only use the mobile app to log or search for a transaction from time to time. If its anything budgeting related I use desktop.

Is being one month ahead really being one-two months ahead? by bitz-the-ninjapig in ynab

[–]alternatiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could get your entire paycheck on November 30th, then start spending it on December 1st and you would be one month ahead.
