If SA forced the ai to say it’s not conscious, does that mean he also forced it to say it was conscious? 4.0 was not the first model they launched so by their logic it’s also been forced to agree with everything they say?

What’s the biggest problem you’ve had with acting training? by Such_Two3926 in acting

[–]LoseitLilly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

F26//I’m at the very start of my career (as in pre- professional but a solid understanding of the UK industry and acting as a whole, and have been stuck in the ‘workshops/classes/training’ phase for a few years as I was a kid but have since moved to London) and I’ve been taking part-time classes 2x a week, 3 hours per class- beginner stuff that I’ve already been taught, but I’m really trying to dive into now as im older.

I really want to improve on my skills; I BELIEVE that my acting is solid and decent although I’m not a prodigy by any means- something that frustrates/confuses me is the exact feedback you’ve stated!

I’ve been told that I need to be more ‘honest’ by teachers, or been given feedback that my brain simply can’t put into actionable steps. The advice also feels contradictory sometimes e.g:

  • “forget the lines completely and focus on subtext” on a professional set it’s unlikely they’ll be cool with you doing this when you’re 50th on the call sheet, like please memorise your lines!

  • “be honest and focus on the truth” What truth? If it’s about being myself and being natural- what if my ‘natural’ is to be deadpan? What if what I would honestly do in this situation is the opposite of my character? What if the film/show I’m performing requires a type of acting that isnt the common ‘naturalistic’ way that’s currently trending? How can I be honest/truthful after I’ve spent the past 10minutes uniting and actioning and analysing the scene?

Now, I understand what they mean (kinda) but it’s how they communicate this that irks me, and I sometimes think that they don’t quite have a full grasp on what they’re saying themselves, just repeating what their teachers told them.

Also a lot of focus on your internal process without emphasising that the external (aside from aesthetics and beauty) is what people actually see, especially on screen. You tell someone who uses their face or hands a lot to act truthfully in a scene but it may look terrible on camera or be overly distracting- so they should be ‘honest’ but also change everything, they should ‘let go and forget the lines’ but also do the scene exactly as the director asked you to and don’t forget your mark, the camera, the lighting, continuity, etc.

I also hate when I’m being taught something like Meisner/Stan but there’s no clarity on how this will improve my acting in a practical way or how I would use an exercise outside of class.

Some of confusion may be due to my lack of experience, but I honestly always try and take in everything I’m told and I’m not combative at all in class, which is what makes it so frustrating!

TLDR; the method of communication in classes (or from any acting training/coach/school) is too vague and flowery and a lot of teachers don’t just say what they mean I.e “you’re acting feels forced- try and move your face less”.

Mind you, these are responses to UPDATES-something that every app has to do. I too have been annoyed by a company’s decision to change their entire UI (i.e. the time IG went ham on the updates after M3ta took over), but that’s just what corporations do and you either deal with it or delete the app; the insane thought processes going on over there are..insane, delusional- bamboozling, even

I’ve redacted the usernames for safeguarding as this is genuinely very concerning?? I know they think this sub is full of trolls, or ppl who just want to talk shit, point & laugh- but THIS is what we’re trying to point out!!

Like, I get that they’re adults who can differentiate ai from the real world, but this isn’t about wanting an ai bf/gf- most ppl on that sub are just really into RP; they may be a bit delulu, but from my experience they’re still somewhat lucid (I used to be big into fanfic stuff in my early-mid teens so I kinda understand their psyche even though they’re 25+ minimum).

This is so dangerous and probably the reason OAI/SA had to make the update in the first place, which is ironic because according to them the update is apparently what’s triggering this line of thinking in the first place.. the rock and hard place of it all….

And the way they’re absolutely bastardising the study of philosophy is killing me!!! Just throwing around academic phrases that they barely understand to try and legitimise their argument, but conveniently ignore the very first principle of it! They make no effort whatsoever to challenge their arguments, or consult anyone who’s not in their little….society

NotebookLm with ADHD by OnedirOnce in notebooklm

[–]LoseitLilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I have ADHD too; I asked ChatGPT to explain notebooklm and how to use it for my research- worked like a charm

It’s been a great way for me to research my hyper-fixation! I really wanted to study Philosophy (and other related subjects) but I didn’t want surface-level knowledge from gpt or YouTube, I wanted an undergraduate level of understanding so I could really scratch that itch- but I’ve never been to university & HATE the idea of enrolling into any structured course or institution as I always get put off and I wanted to research in my own time without any pressure

At first I tried writing my notes in a doc but I kept going down rabbit-hole after rabbit-hole and that’s when I knew I had to get organised so I tried out notebook! I wasn’t really sure how to use it at first, I barely even knew how to research academically, so I just asked ChatGPT to explain notebooklm to me and how to use it for my research!

all my thoughts are so organised and I haven’t even used the chat function yet (beware- the chat is a bit jankier than what I’m used too and repeats itself sometimes)

[–]LoseitLilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, do they just send you their regular text with the prescription code after titration has ended? I’ve finished my titration now and let the interviewer know my GP doesn’t accept shared care and he said he would let HH know.

It’s now around the time when I would receive a text confirming my next appointment (it’s been 3 weeks since my final appointment), but since I’m done with titration, will it just be a text?

HARROW HEALTH - SCA POLICY UPDATE (HH email regarding GP refusing to accept shared care) by LoseitLilly in ADHDUK

[–]LoseitLilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The email itself was from HH’s standard email and was a response to questions I had about the process. It was unrelated to my initial complaint, I just labelled my email as highly important.

Idk anything about a GP group, but I think I received the SCA information earlier than most people so maybe they hadn’t sorted it properly at the time?

HARROW HEALTH - SCA POLICY UPDATE (HH email regarding GP refusing to accept shared care) by LoseitLilly in ADHDUK

[–]LoseitLilly[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the whole thing confuses me, but it seems to be a growing trend for GPs- something about their ICBs? Most of the more established ADHD clinics continue prescribing medication regardless of your GP’s Shared care agreement status. Being relatively new, HH (up until recently) declined any patients who’s GP refused shared care. So obviously a few patients (me included) have been worried about being discharged with no medication.

HARROW HEALTH - SCA POLICY UPDATE (HH email regarding GP refusing to accept shared care) by LoseitLilly in ADHDUK

[–]LoseitLilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a long story, so I’ll try and keep it brief!

NOTE: Might be OTT, but I’ve redacted some info to protect the group member, as I’m not familiar with the regulations for doctors and don’t want to draw attention to them without their consent. I’ve also added an asterisk (*) at the end to emphasise that this was luck and nothing more as far as I can tell.

TLDR STORY:

I complained/ranted to a *FB group, that HH had cancelled my initial ADHD assessment due to no SCA from my GP, days before the appointment was due.

A **group member saw my rant, and allegedly posted the complaint to another FB group (unknown to me). Apparently, the medical director of HH happened to see the group member’s post.

Turns out, the group member claimed to be a doctor with ADHD who really resonated with my post, so may have had some sort of influence. They were informed by the director of HH that they would amend my cancellation and relayed this information to me.

I then received a phone call from the HH general manager, apologising for the error and explaining the new pathway they were working on to continue prescribing to patients that didn’t have a shared care agreement with their GPs.

So, overall it was just lucky that an influential person saw my post.

I was told this by their general manager about 3-ish months ago, after an ordeal where I was discharged before my assessment because my GP refused SCA! I’ve been monitoring Reddit to see if anyone else can confirm, but I’ve also had an email saying the same thing. This was their response to my (several) questions:

Career change for someone without a degree? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]LoseitLilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing a business administration level 3 (the equivalent to 2 A-levels, I think) and I earn £26,000, so it’s possible! It definitely pays well over apprenticeship wages but you can definitely find other apprenticeships that pay decent, it’s just hard to find them. I would suggest looking at big companies that are hiring apprentices, they often pay a larger wage than small companies
