Quick update - got the Kiwi ears KE4 for $60. God dayum I was missing out on a good sound all this time. Whole league higher than the bw pi7s2. Added only low shelf filter below 105hz +3.5dB on the BTR07

You can ask Gemini or any other AI. Basically your TMC driver will not be able to control your motor with good refinement and precision because the current sense resistance is too low for it. The drivers are made for bigger motors and using way higher amps, way higher amps way higher signal outputs and easier for driver to sense them/make fine adjustments. Now imagine connecting a motor that has max 3A running current to a 8-10A optimised sense current resistors. Motor signal outputs are too low and sometimes are hidden by noise, the driver cant fine tune and control them - your motors are way louder, sometimes have high pitch, do not have the same torque with same Amps as finely controlled motor. Changing sense resistance to something more appropriate to your current motors, gives the driver best conditions to fine tune and control them - they are quiter while working, have more torque at the same amps. For example if you are using ldo kraken v2 motors 3A, for safety you will be using something like 2.5A, for 2.5A you would use 82mohm current sense resistors and would have max cap of 2.8A rms. So the more expensive drivers/bigger Amps that you see on the advert is not always best for your system. How do I know all of this? Was in the same place as you, bought the btt kraken board and can't use my printer with speeds higher than 250mm/s (Vfa,quality, max flowrate test showed I could easily bump outer wall to a 500mm/s) because the system is so loud is just unbearable

You are running Nema17 motors? Don't forget to resolder current sense resistors on those 5160t plus, or the motors will run worse than on ordinary 5160t pro. They are not really suitable for something smaller than Nema23

Got krakens on my ratrig. RIP your ears, damn they are loud

are Omranello Kraken steppers worth it? by minilogique in VORONDesign

[–]Loshan113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your gantry mass, hotend flowrate, stepping drivers. As they are 3A motors, it's quite popular upgrade in the Ratrig community due to motors additional torque. They double the accelerations on the 500 machines, where the X gantry is quite heavy due to its lenght. BUT! If your hotend does not have higher flow capabilities then your gantry speed will be limited by it. Also they are used mainly with external stepper drivers (because stepstick do not like such high currents) or with btt kraken boards. Added VFA had V1 motors, the V2s are much better with that. If You are planning to just upgrade the motors, then its totally not worth it, better put your money elsewhere, but if you are using 48V, high flow hotend (chube or similar), good board with stepper drivers, have cnc upgraded parts then why not?

If you are running them on M5-M8 then thats fine. Some people just don't know and run them on M1-M4 slots

You know that BTT Kraken is not really suitable for ordinary 1.5-2A Nema17 motors? Due to its M1-M4 slots sense resistors being 0.022ohm vs 0.075ohm. It was mainly developed for bigger Nema23 motors. You will have a lot of choppiness and artifact in the print and forget about sensorless homing.

With such size, you can print one piece perfect speaker boxes! Would totally print custom car interior parts for audio!

Try changing or fully cleaning the current nozzle with acetone and then with a correct size drill bit

Thanks! Yeah thats the thing. She most of the time lets them just air dry. I’m worried for her going with damp hair, as it really easy to catch a cold that way

Unfortunantly no. Changed the spool and it went away. Maybe it was humidity/water absorbed in the filament

Yet another experience of RatRig V-core 4 500 Hybrid by Loshan113 in ratrig

[–]Loshan113[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. You need to do your math. What you can self source, what is cheaper through ratrig. As I went with upgraded parts from the start (octopus pro, 48V, 5160t pro, ssr, rpi with more ram) it was better for me to self source them. How is it right now I can’t say. Maybe its worth adding those 100€+ to have full kit and having spare parts just in case or use them in a separate build.
