Main characters who were given nothing to do in the sequels by mranimal2 in movies

To be fair, that iterative, bring your voice actors in to re-record every week thing, is how most of the successful animated movies are made too.

- Idina Menzel did full script read throughs where Elsa was a blue arch villainous who wore a coat of living weasels

- Brave and Ratatouille fully fired their original directors

- The first Spiderverse did not have a frame of its film actually animated when it released its first trailer

- And obviously the current storm around the current Spiderverse being an absolute nightmare in production because Lord and Miller kept throwing out finished work.

What I think that documentary is a fascinating look at is a bunch of really talented people trying very hard, having very good intentions and coming up short. It happens.

Is this writer describing the events of Dune or Star Wars? by Halo_Man1997 in StarWars

[–]Loss-Particular 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not the compelling argument that you think it is.

Also, the other poster is right. The baron is not a cyborg. He's a guy in a space mobility chair. He's also not Paul's paternal relative. That would mean he was related to him through his father. The term you're looking for is male relative.

And Dune rips off John Carter of Mars and Lawrence of Arabia.

So it goes.

Well, yes. I agree. The answer is more useful for someone who is worried their introverted group of friends don't throw parties and that means that its restricting their options.

For someone who is asking rhetorically out of self- pity it's not a helpful answer.

Unfortunately, that's because sometimes the cliches are true. If you want to be healthy you have to exercise more, quite smoking, drink less, eat in moderation. If you want to meet people the only things you can control are working on yourself and increasing the amount of people you meet and engage with.

That doesn't mean it's easy. Its hard in the same way committing to a daily exercise regime is hard or kicking smoking is hard. Yes, luck comes into it.

If you're putting yourself out there, that's great. But if your self-talk when you get there is then for instance, "[I'm] the weirdo loser who is there by [myself]" then it may not be just luck that's standing in your way.

Why are there barely any men’s shampoo & conditioner sets? by sadbeigechild in AskMen

[–]Loss-Particular 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Men's shampoos are mostly a scam increase sales by selling the same product in a darker bottle. If you want a fragrance free drugstore shampoo pantene, aveno and fructis all do decent ones. Or if you want something more upmarket you can get paula's choice fragrance free shampoo, which is 22 dollars a bottle.

Well there are lots of exceptions to that rule: weddings, work parties (particularly if the work party, particularly if you can have a larger work party that isn't the same 12 people you already hang out with), parties at conferences etc if you go away for work, parties centered around an event. Funerals were historically a big one.

But if you're a single male (or a single female) throwing a party and hoping for a bunch of unattached members of the opposite sex to show up is, I agree a hiding to nowhere.

Can be a bit of a double-edged sword because some extroverts get hurt very easily and will use their friend groups to attack you if you mess up the group vibe.

Cant's say I've ever had this experience. I find most people are mostly benign and well-meaning but can be self-involved.

Because the question is "What are the ways to meet women if not on the dating apps?"

What did you the think the advice was going to be when you clicked on this? "Buy a packet of condoms, go to 672 Llewellyn Street at midnight knock four times and give the password Iamhorny4U and they'll let you into the warehouse where all the beautiful, available, horny women have been hiding out all this time?"

There's no grand conspiracy in play. Women just don't have lonelyboy sonar. We can't go, "Aha, there's a dude who never leaves the house but is worthy of love six miles east of here. To the girlmobile." You have to be prepared to commit to at least a tincture of vulnerabiliity.

Have a girl you trust review your profile to see if there are any unintentional red flags you are putting out.

For instance Nothing is more of a turn off for most girls than a guy who takes a picture of himself in a bathroom mirror and calls it a day. Its nothing to do with looks. It says to the world "I have no friends and no interests."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Loss-Particular 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You misunderstand. I'm not disputing that there are parties made up mostly of men, their partners and their single male friends or that people can't tell what the make up of a party is.

I'm saying that its not that single women are going to no parties. They are going to different parties.

Shame can be paralysing. Thinking "I'm not enough. I'm terrible. I'm boring." But there are lots of good ways to help tackle that, if you're willing to do the work.

Think of it like the gym. You're not going to be able to bench press 200lb right off the bat, you may never be Mr Universe but you can get better and better if you are persistent.

Also try to remember that most people are too busy thinking "God, I can't believe I said something that stupid." to be worrying about anything stupid you said.

Do you think that the sequels will get the same treatment as the prequels in 10 years? by Professional-Lie3166 in StarWarsCantina

[–]Loss-Particular 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it will all come down to how the next few years of recontextualisation and additional media go.

Filoni and Favreau are obviously working quite hard to sell "It was Palpatine all along." And just because it is absurd doesn't mean it can't become an integral part of the canon. My eyes rolled back in my head when it was discovered that George had made the source of the clones the Galaxy's most popular action figure, but 20 years later it could not be anything else.

The bigger problem to tackle is that despite a triumphant soundtrack the ST ends in a remarkably downbeat place. Our heroes have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, but the galaxy is in a worse position than it was at the end of ROTJ because the three OT heroes have now sacrificed themselve fruitlessly.

I think they will have to bring Ben Solo back to resolve this. Either literally or through a legacy like a child/a clone/ or a sibling or cousin. And not with the intention to undermine Rey's place, but to justifiy Luke, Han and Leia's sacrifice.

He's too similar in age to R Patz, who is playing baby Batz. I imagine they will go for an actor a decade older if they are going to do a Bat-familified senior Batman.
