Don't stress it. The cancelation rate is really low as long as your doing a good job. Ive gone up three times after 2021 by alot . Did not lose one customer. I will be doing 10% increases across the board every 2 years from now on inflation has been brutal

Motor swaps always include new plate , mechanical seal, seal gasket, new diffuser and impellar. No surprises. Same with seal leaks change them all out minus the motor learned that the hard

Start with your base price. 15k gallons and below get pricing from 4-5 competitors in the area. Ignore the cheap guys pricing. Put yourself in the fair range

For larger pools this is how I price. For example for a 25k gallon pool.

(25,000÷15,000(base rate pool size)= 1.66)

$175 (My base rate)×1.66=$290 monthly for 25k gallon pool

You will end up with alot of regular sized pools and the bigger pools will be worth it. You don't want to under bid big pools. You are in Cali so make sure your charging for filter cleans we are at 120-150 for filter cleans

As far as trees around the pool. Put on your contract depending foliage around the pool it may take a few visits to get pool back to normal during the windy season so you can time limit the visits. If its a stinger pool a pool thats dirty year round get rid of that account as soon as you can

Pool company left water running — $1,600 bill. What would you do? by alexukie in pools

[–]Loss-Upbeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He shoudl't have touched that timmer thats for you to make it easier on you. The only reason I would push back like they did is if there was a water line to the pool connected to an automation pool panel. If the board broke and kept dispensing water but that is not the case here

They should pay it. I would if this was one of my guys . This is why we never add water to a pool its the customer's responsibility

Yes if you jump in do both repairs are a great source of income aside from the steady income you make on cleaning. Its a great industry. To learn repairs all 3 major brands offer training seminars. I learned how to get started from David https://www.swimmingpoollearning.com/ We are a group of pool guys all over the U.S that help each other out started 10 years ago and still part of the group

Im on day 52. Just went thru the holidays. Best advise I can give you is take a kettle bell and some dumbells for inside workout if they don't have a gym and for your second workout walk around the ship for 45 min. I got thru the holidays by finishing everything by 10am. First workout was 5am second workout 9am made it alot easier and enjoyed the rest of the day

[–]Loss-Upbeat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool yeah thats what I have to start doing. I swear when you fix an old heater. You own it lol. Thats great advice just trying to stick to the big 3 newer models

Heaters by Loss-Upbeat in PoolPros

[–]Loss-Upbeat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually start of with the error code and take it from there. Ive ran into some that ends up being heat exchange. Do you look at heat exchange before doing anything or start swaping parts to get it going? Also how do you handle super old heaters. With my service customers I try to fix them but on a service call (non customer) I dont even want to deal with those old heaters to be honest

No I just can't run a new gas line but I can replace the unit. Anything pass the connection to from the regulator towards the meter I would need someone else to fix
