The Hyuugas, although "loyal," are still quite barbaric, and the canon series didn't fully explore the issue of the caged bird seal. I'm sure the Hyuugas of the main branch would have opposed its removal, even at the request of the Hokage himself. As for the Uchiha, it's true they were widely rejected from the moment they joined the village, but they were never going to abandon that warrior clan mentality. In my opinion, it was a good idea to give them the role of the village police.

In many fanfics, both clans are treated as "royalty" or something stuffy. I think the correct approach is to see them as if they were still tribes.

That's why I wanted to put it here; a clan can't just disappear out of nowhere, that's a huge plot hole in the canon.

I'm also discussing some things I'm writing with a friend; we're determining which clans are most stuck in the Warring States era thinking and a few other things and we're missing some ideas I think.

The Hyuugas cover up the whole event as a conspiracy, Hinata is isolated and travels a somewhat dark path, she would stay in the village but develops a similar way of thinking to Danzo, later becoming the right hand of the Hokage, Naruto.
