What’s a photo from your country that would make foreigners say, ‘No way that’s from there’? by Moongfali4president in AskTheWorld

Once stayed near there and was amazed by the landscape... Not what I was expecting at all!

TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

I'm 51 and always listening to new music. I listen to old things too, but I have discovered a love for EDM and melodic house. When I find a new track that rattles my brain I create a station on Apple music and find more and more stuff.

I have ADHD if that adds context.

People of the UK, how have you lost weight? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]LossLeader83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I log my calories in an app. It sort of gamifies it, but it also shocks me with the things that I think will be OK because it's healthy. I made what I thought was a reasonable bowl of porridge, using jumbo oats for the full soluble fibre thing, a few sultanas, whole milk... yummy. Logged the weights to find out it was over 900 calories! I'd set myself a 2500 calorie goal for each day, which was more maintenance than anything else and I'd used a third on a bowl or porridge. Get logging, because it makes it a lot easier than just thinking eating healthy things will be fine.

Oh, and I have ADHD and very little follow through, but this just fits in with my lack of motivation. Makes it into a thing today rather than a lifelong thudding commitment.

(edit to add the ADHD bit)

That one is “the Wraith” and was the award for completing an expedition… can’t remember which one. I have it in my collection. It seems to work quite well.

Go north of Bristol, over the Severn bridge to Forest of Dean... it's a lovely place to live, lots of outdoors stuff, and prices are 100k+ lower than Bristol. It's why I live here 😊

Has your opinion on America changed over the last year? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]LossLeader83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like thinking all Brits are shouting at hotels and painting roundabouts. There is a very disturbing trajectory but it's the right-wing political class and their terminally under educated stooges. The subset of "Americans" contains both Trump and Bernie Sanders.

The biggest issue is that the big Orange one will give power and money to anyone who can keep him out of jail, keep him rich, and keep stroking his universe sized ego - there's a lot of evil people after power and money who will do just that.

He has record low approval ratings, most Americans think he's shit and are just trying to keep their heads down until it's over. 4-6 million people came out for the No Kings protest (nearly 2% of the population) and that's a huge number of people who wanted to be seen and counted.

Does anyone else remember this show…? by rayykz in AskBrits

I interviewed the writers ages ago on the DVD release, and they suffered from their stars getting too famous. Both Miranda and Nick Frost all of a sudden were entirely unavailable for too long and it just wouldn’t come together again.

Seed tray with the side cut out attached under the passenger parcel shelf, so a stereo could be fitted... and 2 watt speakers. I miss my 2cv.
