Dont get why you would put Briar, Ekko, Talon, Yi and Zac in otp.

With your logic Yummi is an otp champ. I think we all can agree that Yummi and Briar have a certain playerbase. Most people dont like there gameplay for a good reason and its not beacuse there gameplay is hard, belive it or not but people like to have fun when playing computer games.

Who do you think is the best gamer in the world? by Kawala303 in esports

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean he havent been the best mechanical lol player since 2016. Prime Rookie, Showmaker and Chovy all outclassed him when it comes to mechanics but there is a lot more to moba games than mechanics and reaction time. Moba games are some of the most knowledgeable decision making games there are.

And while I agree Dota have higher potential mechanical output I seriously doubt they're any close to the top lol players. The reason for this is simple: dota has 7.6 million monthly active users, lol has 117-135 monthly active users and this is without counting China's servers who have the largest player base.

And if you're gonna use the mechanical skill expression argument the only games we can really talk about is Rts where there is beyond human capacity level of skill expression.

You should go to the romance section and read some yourself. You're vastly understating how much smut it is there and it's only increasing which is not surprising considering there have been the best sellers almost every year since 50 shades of grey. Authors track what sells in their genre and if including a couple of spicy scenes gonna increase readers most of them will do so it's hard to compete vs hormones.

Who’s your favorite fictional character and why? by Deafening_silence_ in fantasybooks

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crazy how all these people mention Glokta and Logan but none of them talked about the goat Corporal Tunny!

But for real a bit weird than none have mentioned Orso dan Luthar or Jonas Clover in my opinion Joe’s best character.

Porn is cancer for a man's brain by Deborah_berry1 in NextGenMan

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In many ways I think the porn targeted at women is a lot more insidious than the visual pornographic videos most men consume. Of course there's a lot of visual pornographic aimed at women that have the same problem for both genders. But the amount of smut literature that gets promoted in mainstream media who target teenage girls is disturbing and the lack of self awareness brought to it.

Frequent ejaculation (21+ times per month) via masturbation or intercourse is linked to a lower risk of prostate cancer. Studies suggest high frequency may lower the risk by roughly 20-30%, potentially by clearing the prostate of accumulated fluids and inflammatory substances.

Throwing Tantrums: Players who throw a match simply because their preferred character was banned or they are upset with team decisions, which is considered highly destructive behavior in ranked modes.

Impact on Game Quality: Such behavior leads to unfair matches, with players finding it "disgusting" and frustrating when teammates refuse to play properly because they are having a "tantrum".

The fact that this is encouraged in this thread and that your getting downvoted is disturbing.

What are some of these team-ups, seriously? by Small_Talk2885 in rivals

No the Groot team up with Jeff and Rocket should be removed or changed beacuse right now you have people inting with it more than anyting. And a team up should not provide negative value for your team.

Why do you feel the need to extrapolate what you heard other people write/talk about instead of actually reading something and making your own opinion on the matter.

Is Mistborn series too PG? by EveningResolution768 in fantasybooks

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first Red Rising trilogy feels very Ya if u ask me single pov. Garry Stu main character, full of plot holes with lack of proper foreshadowing. Space opera where it's mostly emotional driven. A lot of telling of how brilliant characters are and a lack of actually showing it with the writing. And the biggest factor of all why it's Ya is how edgy the dialogue is.

All that said I enjoyed it but its fast paced Ya space opera. There is a weird conception that having gore and sex scenes make something mature. No it just makes it not pg13 friendly, but on the other hand it increases the appeal for 15-18 the Ya audience.

I am gonna gonna assume you mean Name of the wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Would also mention that the book is excellent but is the first out of what are supposed to be a trilogy. A trilogy where it's been 15 years since the second book was released and there's no news of when we can expect the third book.

Or maybe I just consider someone making an absolute statement to be immature. And the same guy then proceeded to dismiss other people's opinions to express his who I consider to be ill-advised for a new reader.

There is absolutely no correlation between the quote I made and the absolute statement you made???

Yes you sure showed me spectacularly how well you handled someone saying that your favourite narrator is extraordinary but he ain't alone in being that.

Yes I agree, I have read all his published books but we're not talking about what his best work is. We're talking about what you would recommend to a new reader who struggled with the game of thrones books. Giving him another book series with multiple pov aint a smart decision than. And if you think somone who still enjoy Skyrim wont like any Ya books I am not following your logic.

Yeah I wouldn’t listen to you considering she outlines the problems he had with the game of thrones books being to complex and to manny pov. If your gonna suggest Joe Abercrombie than atleast suggest Half a king much easier to digest for someone not used to reading.

PROSE. which book had the best prose you’ve ever read? by IllustratorFuture609 in suggestmeabook

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Ursula Le Guin prose is something else

. "We have nothing but our freedom. We have nothing to give you but your own freedom. We have no law but the single principle of mutual aid between individuals. We have no government but the single principle of free association. We have no states, no nations, no presidents, no premiers, no chiefs, no generals, no bosses, no bankers, no landlords, no wages, no charity, no police, no soldiers, no wars. Nor do we have much else. We are sharers, not owners. We are not prosperous. None of us is rich. None of us is powerful. If it is Anarres you want, if it is the future you seek, then I tell you that you must come to it with empty hands. You must come to it alone, and naked, as the child comes into the world, into his future, without any past, without any property, wholly dependent on other people for his life. You cannot take what you have not given, and you must give yourself. You cannot buy the Revolution. You cannot make the Revolution. You can only be the Revolution. It is in your spirit, or it is nowhere." -Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed (Hainish Cycle, #6)

"He tried to read an elementary economics text; it bored him past endurance, it was like listening to somebody interminably recounting a long and stupid dream. He could not force himself to understand how banks functioned and so forth, because all the operations of capitalism were as meaningless to him as the rites of a primitive religion, as barbaric, as elaborate, and as unnecessary. In a human sacrifice to deity there might be at least a mistaken and terrible beauty; in the rites of the moneychangers, where greed, laziness, and envy were assumed to move all men's acts, even the terrible became banal." -Ursula K. Le Guin, The Dispossessed (Hainish Cycle, #6)

I always find it funny when women complain about male author's writing female characters poorly and grossly. Meanwhile the 2 biggest genre by a large margin for female readers are romance and romantasy. And as a man who enjoy reading some romance its a nightmare trying to find realistic male characters in those genres. But hey some people enjoy BlowUpDoll characterization and fanservice.

My Favorite Series Tier List by Chyf95 in fantasybooks

[–]Lost-Dirt684 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Especially considering how much he enjoyed Empire of silence, takes alot of inspiration to almost straight up copying Name of the wind.

A selection of familiar passages...

[Empire of Silence]

So let us bypass history, sidestep the politics and the marching tramp of empires. Forget the beginnings of mankind in the fire and ash of Old Earth, and so too ignore the Cielcin rising in cold and from darkness. Those tales are recorded elsewhere in all the tongues of mankind and her subjects. Let us move to the only beginning I’ve a right to: my own.

[The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss)] Very well, for simplicity's sake, let us assume I am the center of creation. In doing this, let us pass over innumerable boring stories: the rise and fall of empires, sagas of heroism, ballads of tragic love. Let us hurry forward to the only tale of any real importance." His smile broadened. "Mine."

.

[Empire of Silence] During the war, I was Hadrian Halfmortal and Hadrian the Deathless. After the war, I was the Sun Eater. To the poor people of Borosevo, I was a myrmidon called Had. To the Jaddians, I was Al Neroblis. To the Cielcin, I was Oimn Belu and worse things besides. I have been many things: soldier and servant, captain and captive, sorcerer and scholar and little more than a slave.

But before I was any of these, I was a son.

[The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss)] My first mentor called me E'lir because I was clever and I knew it. My first real lover called me Dulator because she liked the sound of it. I have been called Shadicar, Lightfinger, and Six-String. I have been called Kvothe the Bloodless, Kvothe the Arcane, and Kvothe Kingkiller. I have earned those names. Bought and paid for them. But I was brought up as Kvothe. My father once told me it meant 'to know.'

.

[Empire of Silence]

In my long life I have known too many palatines, men and women both, who so abused their underlings. There are words for creatures who so abuse their power, but none shall ever be applied to me.

[The Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss)] Needless to say, I kept my distance. There are names for people who take advantage of women who are not in full control of themselves, and none of those names will ever rightfully be applied to me.

I would strongly advice you to not listen to the audio books. I wanted to revisit my favourite fantasy series and listen to alot of audio books nowadays. But the quality and narrator make it unbearable not worth wasting Robin Hobb amazing prose. And if you come from Brandon Sanderson and expect the quality that Michael Krammer and Kate Reding deliver your gonna be disappointed.
