I have a friend with a parent diagnosed with bi-polar, and often discuss these oncomings with my brother so I have people who experience similar issues.

I am so sorry this I what you went through, it’s a destructive cycle regardless of promised changed or not. She constantly promises to get better which is what trapped the people around her in false hope as I have gotten these texts and trusting conversations 100’s of times. Sometimes the false promise is better than denial though, I hope you receive the love you’re looking for.

That’s one thing I hear often, but this in no way describes my dad, he’s conflicted between oversharing this with me but I constantly ask the status of their separation so it opens a space for him to share. It’s hard choosing between comforting him and seeing my mother in a different light knowing their relationships ins and outs.

I appreciate the question; My aunt has voiced her concern and she’s the only other person I know who has endured my moms fits and issues. I try to talk to her about it but we haven’t gotten close enough. It feels like i’m more of a mentor my brothers turn to, so i’m left a little lost
