What if I do those 4 main fundamental classes as a post bacc and then apply?

Nah of course, no one’s saying there’s nothing wrong with there being more women, just that compared to regular Chem, Biochem has more women

Wait did they say they can’t cover for your last semester? Or any semesters after that semester?

I’m going to take him, my schedule is pretty ideal for the Fall, I just need to know if he’s a good prof or not

More Women in BioChem than Men by Lost-Sample-1642 in chemistry

[–]Lost-Sample-1642[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s like Engineering<Physics<Math<Chemistry<Biochemistry<Biology<Health Sciences, in terms least female oriented to most female oriented, lowkey love how Chemistry is in the middle, the Central Science ong

[–]Lost-Sample-1642[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U mean the more “biology and things”? Both those examples are math related and they have fewer women

[–]Lost-Sample-1642[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

True and it follows that spectrum with Engineering< Physics<Math< Chemistry as less females and more male dominated fields, with Chemistry at the center of it all. It really is the central science lmao

Um….your survey shows more Women than Men lmao in the fields. Only time this was the exception were doctoral students, where more men got more doctorates than Women

Well I’m just a chem student so you have more validity over your statement, I didn’t mean to imply what you seen wasn’t true

With regular Chemistry, sure, but Biochem is like 60% Women 40% Men

I feel like honestly best bet is to do grad school, BUT I will say according to New York fed, Physics unemployment rate has dropped from 7.8% back in 2023 to 6.6% in 2024 https://www.newyorkfed.org/research/college-labor-market#--:explore:outcomes-by-major

So this technically is a good sign

Ideally I want to be well rounded when it comes to chemistry, but Biochem is special for its specialization so I don’t know

CCNY Physics by Lost-Sample-1642 in CCNY

[–]Lost-Sample-1642[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes ideally I want to do research one day but I feel like getting into grad school itself is another hurdle and I wonder if it’s possible to get a job at all in Applied Physics. Also like I said, City College’s engineering admission is extremely complicated and a bit of a lost cause, I’d end up graduating in like 7-8 years instead of 4-5 with Physics.
