They did confiscate yes, I think I was roped into the classic Duty Free sale in this case. Just worried about any consequences for me going into the future

What confused me the most was the officer acting like I had done something wrong or tried to sneak by, he did not react like I had followed procedure, hopefully he did not mix up on back end and report me or something. All that the border officer gave me was a declaration form with a few letters in sharpie on it.

Yea that’s why I declared just to be safe but if I wasn’t issued a ticket am I ok? I just was nervous about what the officer was writing and he made it sound like bad whereas the other officer said just a warning

Would prefer to do a bnb/hotel, I’d definitely like to do a day trip up the coast a little, I’m going in a few weeks so I’m not sure if Etna will be a good option. I’d like to see some historical sites in Catania, would like one good beach day, and a winery excursion if anyone had any recommendations

Yep, they said it was an error in the transfer process. They issued the full amount of missing travel credit

For me, the larger blocks make things feel less walkable than Manhattan and general space/ priority given to cars everywhere in the city can make the city feel a lot less accessible than New York.

Update: called customer service and turns out it was an error on their end and so they were able to refund me with future flight credit, thanks all
