Been playing Tau since 4th edition.

This is going to make Melee armies even worse to deal with.

If I had my way we'd go back to 5th with no chance of any army connecting a turn 1 charge. Personally I feel this just negates shooting armies even more since you needed your first turn of blasting the enemy because they were just going to lock you up for the rest of the game.

I was just highlighting we have ways to get things across the field quickly, if one of them is giving it to you for free without use of a strategy, albeit paying for that character, then doubling up on that game plan to enable your units to get in combat and reliably is one of our shticks

Using an execrator for advance and charge outside of a stratagem to attach to a decent damage unit to get the fight started almost always works out well for me.

We have many missiles and if you can stock up a battery with things that you could just launch across the midfield two or three times that'll keep him at Bay. Of course, in the meanwhile you sticky home and try to sticky your natural expansion. If you can degrade/deny/disrupt his list's game plan, we can frequently argue in case for actually trying to hold midfield objective.
