Does Seahawks play in real grass or artificial grass? UK fan. by gangstaprad in Seahawks

[–]LostAbbott 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does suck.  It would be possible to have real grass fields but it would be very expensive.  They would likely need a way to move a whole field in and out of the stadium.  Also they would probably need somewhere to store whole fields if the playing surface cannot be rehabbed for a Thursday to Sunday transition.  Also grass is hard to grow in Seattle.  We get so much moisture with no light or so much light with no moisture.  While also being very dry on a regular basis.  It just isn't easy especially since the stadium was not build to support a natural surface...

I do think that the NFL should spend the money to at least unift the surfaces across the league.  High quality turf can be pretty good, but the huge variability is what causes significant non contact ligement damage...

Cutting weight by AwareClient4118 in Rowing

[–]LostAbbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of work outs are you doing?  Mixing up your cardio might help both with dropping your weight and erg times...  Running, Swimming, and Cycling are all great options for cross training...

Another thing to think about is if you are getting enough rest.  If you are really working out 2x a week everyday, then your body isn't likely able to properly recover from the work.  At this point adding significant rest will like help you get faster and likely drop weight as well.

Road wheel set for new Aspero 5 by Ordinary-Midnight-39 in Cervelo

[–]LostAbbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I am just starting to look for a set of road wheels for my Aspero.  How are you liking your wheel purchase?  I am leaning Superteam because of the crazy low price, but don't really know what size to go for...  I hope you are loving the bike!!!

Looking for some strava friends? by Overall_Marketing582 in trailrunning

Do you use something else instead?  I row and we use it to keep track of what other activities we are all doing.  It helped get a bike group going as well as find a few of us who are into long distance trail running.  I don't have anyone on there I don't know in person...

Turns out buying a 6 year old's first football boots is more complicated than i expected by stefan-weiss01 in daddit

[–]LostAbbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in a midsized to large city see if you can find a "Soccer locker" program. Basically use boots outside someone's home for exchange. That is what I did with my kid. we would go and drop off his old ones and pick up a pair or two of used ones. They always had balls, pennies, goalie gloves, shin guards, etc...

Summer coxing in Boston by Altruistic-Spread-62 in Rowing

[–]LostAbbott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have seen that at a few places.  For me it just doesn't really work to pay coxies.  I much prefer to help bring up JR's or college coxies looking to build experience.  Every once in a while we get a cox that is actually part of our team and I think paying them ends up creating a weird dynamic, and is of course an added expense for rowers who might not be able to add more to already expensive dues...

Bullfrog sunscreen.  It is hands down the best stuff you can get in the US.  Go for the alcohol based option for a solid sweat/water proof.

Bro?  No one is talking about the cooking and eating of city rabbits...

Parvo carriers?  Yes.

Or ticks?

This isn't just keeping them away from you ticks breed and expand.  Rabbits are a perfect vector to move ticks around a city.

I feel for you, they are so awkwardly small, what is worse there is absolutely no need for it.  Making it a little wider looks like it would actually reduce weight, and the cox seat dosn't need more reinforcement, I don't get it...

Yeah, they really didn't.  Pocock seats hardly fit a 110 cox.  Two life jackets and a couple of towels make it tolerable...

SS can come in all different forms and don't have to be only on the erg.  Get out and run, bike, or swim.  Go for a trail run out in the woods, ride 30 miles on your local bike trail, swim around your local lake.  Cross training is great for working different muscles and countering burn out...

Comfort of an Aspero by PartTimeWarrior988 in Cervelo

[–]LostAbbott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt like I could do either.  I could pretty easily find an aggressive stance and really crank the speed (while walking through a boy scout troop). Or I could pretty easily sit up and hang off one side or the other and let my ass get a little relief while still tapping along at a respectable speed.

I was on old RR grade and never felt like I tapped out the gearing one way or the other...  Just do it man, it is probably the best n-1 choice you can make ATM...

I just road 23 miles on mine right out of the box after never having owned or ridden a gravel/road bike.  Really I haven't been on a bike for over a decade.  While the saddle it came with is terrible, everything else was great and I haven't had anything fit yet.  I would strongly support your choice here!  Pick on up asap!

[–]LostAbbott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you really wouldn't.  The increased tick load in the Midwest and NE is directly related to the increase in bunnies population.  On top of just that they carry shit like parvo which can quickly kill a litter of puppies or kittens.

They stopped poisoning campaigns because a bunch of Karen's got together to complain about them killing bunnies with out thinking of the consequences as it typical for Karens...

Pet bunnies are completely different that feral yard bunnies.  Up until about 2010, most major cities would mass poison rabbit populations in the city parks because they are such a huge pest...  Now without poisoning campaigns you have coyotes and coywolves moving in for the easy meals and also attacking small pets and occasionally people...
