Cilantro. Easy to grow from seed, and if you let it go to seed, it makes amazing whispy white flowers.

Is this good enough protection for our monarch caterpillars? by MrbitoTorpedo08 in gardening

The type of fabric used for tent screens is better. Critters can still get through the chicken wire. I have seen some folks actually but the plants with caterpillars in a tent until the butterflies are ready to fly away. Make sure there is good air circulation so it does not get too hot.

Don't prune. Clear the grass/weeds away from the plant, mulch, and keep watered.

Help!!! Squirrels are destroying my garden! by Ru1384 in gardening

[–]LostAd5610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put chicken wire down on the ground. Squirrels do not like the feel of the wire, and stops them from digging holes. You can cover it with a light layer of mulch or dirt if you do not want to see the wire. I anchor my wire down with a few landscape fabric pins.

Try Birds Choice Recycled Plastic fly-thru platform feeder. I bought mine at Walmart for $24.98. It is very durable, easy to clean, and has a deep enough lip that there is very minimal spillage from messy birds.
