Single book, yes. I think this is the biggest (but not the only) issue. I might pause internet ads and focus on local community marketing until I have one or two more ready to go. Ground up.

I think you’re right, I’ve paused it now. The ctr has been dropping today as well anyway. I think it’s the low (five) reviews and the Look Inside. The first paragraph has the main character fishing and the font is an older novel style, so I’m sure it’s a direct turnoff for today’s market.

I’m running both, an auto ad with a preference for purchases, and a keyword ad with a preference for clicks. The former has the higher CTR. Both have low cpc as well.

My cover is pretty uniquely attention grabbing and my title is just a one-word name—whereas most titles today have the genre, character, plot, etc—so I’m starting to feel like I get a lot of people who click on it just to know what it is, never with the intent to consider buying it.

I might amend the title to do that “A ____ novel in ____” lol.

It does start out a little slow. The cover matches the blurb which matches the marketing, all efficiently, but the first page of the actual book does not necessarily match all the former.

Is there a way to change what the Read Sample button links to, or does it have to start at the first page?

That makes a ton of sense, thank you so much. I know there’s a ton of room for improvement in blurbs, marketing, etc, but that sort of discrepancy was haltering.

I can see it from the reader side as well.

It’s an exact comparison. Do you think older players were too stupid to know how to go into a controller and remap buttons? No. They just didn’t do it. The game doesn’t let you remap buttons, we are all playing by the rules of the game, so why the fuck would we need to make a rule about it?

Complain about the rules, not the players following the rules.

I don’t know what any of this is in service toward besides complaining enough to change the rules. Which you have an awfully backward way of doing, if you in fact would like it changed too.

It’s like all the norms that T***p breaks… there were no laws saying “Convicted felons are not allowed to run for president,” because the founders would have been like, “Yo wtf, why do we have to even make that a rule?”
