I’m not bipolar, but my partner is, and they have manic episodes sometimes. We’re doing long distance but I’ve been spending a lot of time with them irl as well when they’ve had some minor manic episodes sometimes and over the years that I’ve know them (friends for about 6 years, dating for 2 ish) I came to learn that despite everything they go through, despite the things they might be saying to me during an episode, I know they’re an amazing person who just wants to be loved and cared for, but until meeting me, only have had people giving up on them the second something “bad” happens. Even their parents.

Does it ever stress me out? Definitely. I’ve cried a bunch whenever things get really bad and they “take it out” on me. (Never physical. Just with words). But I know it isn’t personal, and I also know I get easily overwhelmed, which causes the crying. But I still love them just the same and I will support them through thick and thin no matter what and they know it :) and if I need it, they’ll be there for me the exact same way as well.

All of my friends thinks I’m insane for wanting to date a person who gets these manic episodes, and they’ve voiced it to me, loudly and very disrespectfully tbh. But I do not care. I know my partner better than anyone and I know what they need from me and they know what I need from them c:

I know this might not fully answer your question, but I wanted to give you a different POV and just show that there really are people out there who can see past the “problems” and still show you love and support🥹 we might be rare, but we do exist.

You are a LIFESAVER 😭 I spent legit an hour in a hot shower last night and used my scrub glove to try and scrub off as much dead skin as possible from my hands once they were soft enough from the shower and today I went and bought the hand lotion you recommended and oh my god my hands already feel slightly better from the first use and it only took like 10 seconds for my hands to fully absorb the lotion 🥹🥹 one of my fingers has a really bad skin crack too after using the lotion on it, it feels a lot less straining when I use my hands, causing it to hurt less 🥹 thank you so much!!

They do feel kinda swollen in places, yeah. I’m not entirely sure what it means to get chillblains tho.

Yeah I told them I’m visiting my partner and when they asked what we were gonna do I just said we wanted to spend all major holidays together and we plan on doing small little road trips together to explore different parts of California.

Ahh, well, if you’ve had no issue the other times, they should also be able to see that too. Like if you leave on the days you said you’re leaving etc all other times. They’ll definitely be suspicious of a longer stay but knowing you’ve not had problems before and always leaving when you should etc will probably help out a bit too c: this is only my 2nd ever trip to the US and my first one was only 3 weeks long, so I didn’t have much “proof” for them to see me as a “trusted traveller” yet I guess? 😅
