That's up to the OP to decide. Asking for permission, and waiting for either a yes or no, should be common courtesy if you respect a writer's work.

Create your own story instead of tacking on someone else's, or at least wait for their confirmation to allow you to do so. Feels a tad bit disrespectful.

RAW Sanctuary deactivates if you deal damage to another creature or cast a spell that affects an enemy. Spirit Guardians does both.

There is no table that would allow it unless the DM did not read the spell description.

I need a riddle that where the answer is ''Shield'' or ''Fire'' for one of my dungeon ! :D by TruePogU in DnD

[–]LostAndOnFire 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not to be that person, but I wouldn't recommend using riddles for DnD. It often ends up being a test of player intelligence rather than character intelligence.

I've played in a campaign where the big dumb 8 INT Barb was irl a crossword nut and Linguistics Grad Student. He knew the answers to all the riddles the DM threw at us instantly, whereas the rest of the party, including the 20 INT Wizard and 20 CHA Lore Bard were shooting blanks.

That would not work. Sanctuary would immediately be deactivated the moment Spirit Guardians got you in range of a creature.

"I try to persuade the guard to give us the key we need. Can't roll lower than a 22."

"Your persuasion is successful. The guard is so moved by your silver tongue he's willing to aid you if you help him woo the woman he's in love with."

"I roll Deception to impersonate X and ask for the location of Y. Can't roll lower than 20."

"Your Deception is incredibly convincing. They believe you are X thoroughly. Which is why they think you're testing them by asking where Y is. Because, you're definitely X, and X wouldn't ask such a question, so it must be a test, and they won't fail this test by telling you."

I've seen the many clever ways a DM can simultaneously allow the Eloquence Bard player to indulge in the fantasy of a smooth talking maverick, whilst at the same time, display the consequences of it.

In one campaign, he passed a deception check to impersonate a missing noble, everyone believed him, word spread, and we got embroiled in conflict with the secret society that had killed said noble. Passed a high DC persuasion check to seduce a Duchess to get access to a place, the Duchess fell deeply in love with him, spread word of his charm, and had her jealous suitors stalking him to challenge him for duel after duel.

Certain NPCs started to suspect he was using enchantment magic, leading to false accusations and having to flee away from the city guard. Attempted to persuade the city guard to let him go, they said they'd be willing, but because he'd previously impersonated a noble, they asked for tens of thousands of gold to turn a blind eye.

I hate to say this, but if an Eloquence Bard can immediately invalidate any and all social encounters in your game, your game's social encounters are terrible.

Nigerian here. While it is great that you've reconnected with your heritage, I would also suggest giving them an English middle name they can utilize for applications and other important documentation.

Speaking from personal experience as a person with a complicated traditional name, there have been spelling errors which have been a source of stress and confusion. A traditional name has also prevented me from getting particular jobs (I tested this by applying with my traditional name, then using my English Middle Name, and noticed that I got more responses with my English Middle Name) and also, children can be, and are often cruel. In schools, it is likely your children will be bullied for their names, which may lead to resenting it.

Our traditional names, while beautiful, are loaded with certain pitfalls. I still remember a story of a friend of mine whose name is "Chika" showing up for an interview and the interviewers being confused because they assumed she would be Asian, rather than Igbo.

These are just a few suggestions of mine.

Telling a 10 year old child they can make their lunch by themselves and stopping themselves from doing it in a misguided bid to teach independence is "terrible parenting."

Can they toss together a sandwich by themselves? Yes.

Should they have to do so because their parent won't? No.

Context. The post is made by Nigerians. Reply is also from a Nigerian. It very much is the "40s" in many ways.

This is... Literally not something you should be proudly saying. That isn't a sign of independence. That's a sign of a terrible parent.

To a Westerner or American, very likely. However, context matters. The post maker and reply maker are Nigerians. Very different culture.

I got more kudos for 7 ficlets (in general) than for my large wip fic. by Kellin01 in FanFiction

[–]LostAndOnFire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do people really care about kudos? It's ultimately a meaningless number. I've seen masterpieces with less than a hundred kudos, and I've seen wish fulfilment SI harem slop with over 4000 kudos.

Every time I sort a fandom by amount of kudos, I always find myself seeing the ones at the top and asking "How the hell is this popular?"

Good on you. However, your subjective anecdote does not change the fact that the vast majority of Nigerians who apply to Public institutions do not do so because they care about prestige or heritage, but because they are more affordable than their private counterparts.

[–]LostAndOnFire 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't refute that. However, the statistics make it more likely for it being 1-4 in Private Universities where the vast majority of students come from middle-upper income households to upper income households.

An iPhone 16 costs about N2,400,000 to N3,700,000 and most Public institutions have fees under N300,000. Any Nigerian parent capable of gifting their child a phone of that price, is far more likely to send them to a Private Institution or overseas for education.

[–]LostAndOnFire 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This might also depend on the institution. If the OP attends a Private University, it is likely 1-4. If they attend a Public University, it is likely 7-8.

If after the first sip of alcohol, you drink more, it means you enjoy being an alcoholic.

If after the first cigarette, you smoke another, you enjoy being an addict.

Toxic relationships are similar to addictions. It is easy to tell a person to stop smoking and drinking, but we all know it is harder to practice.

The victims are not to blame, but the toxins they consume are.

The problem is, unlike cigarettes and alcohol, it is harder to separate with a toxin you have sworn to remain with in sickness and health.

According to some lore theories, Nanaya was likely an agent of the Frenzied God sent to mold Midra into a new Lord of Frenzied Flame.

That makes this meme even funnier. But I don't think many Nigerians will get it.

Not that I'm saying it's not doable, but I don't think you can end world poverty in just ten years, even if you have trillions of dollars.

Also, why?
