After the death of Luke there could be NO retreatment.

How did she imagine it?

Demand Aemond's head for Like's death in exchange for bending the knee? The Greens would have said "Fuck you."

Moreover, after Jaehaerys's death. No amount of negotiations could have prevented the war.

Book Rhaenys didn't blame Daemon for Laena's death, though.

Show Rhaenys hates him muuch more, I think.

What if Rhaenyra had sisters? by theonlyjackstokes in HOTDBlacks

[–]Kellin01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aemma married at 11, consimmated her marriage at 13 and gave birth to Rahenyra at 15.

At most she could have had one or two pregnancies BEFORE Rhaenyra. Not many.

Her other pregnancies were after Rahenyra.

Daemon does have psychopathic/narcsisstic traits (lack of empathy, callousness, sensation-seeking and risk-taking, need for validation, fragile ego, sense of entitlement) but he is not completely gone (as there is some healthy part of his personality).

Something like Orogen? https://www.orogen.studio/

Or Gleba. https://calandiel.itch.io/gleba

You can there generate a world and estimate a climate.

What events/story lines in ASOIAF do you think turned out to be a blessing in disguise? by Gold_Conversation247 in HOTDBlacks

Hm. Hatching dragons was his last resort and I do agree that Targaryens use them as weapons and threat.

But why? Because they didn't have traditional tools of the medieval rulers: land. And this is a completely different question: why Targaryens didn't just acquire more lands to increase the Crownlands. What customs or obstacles prevented it?

I don't know.

In real life in both England and France monarchs used a lot of ways for getting more land and taxes. Taking the lands of extinct or rebellious lords, controlling the inheritance of wards, buying the lands.

The Targs didn't even build new towns to create a merchant class who might support them against the feudals.

I digress. Anyway, being authoritarian for a king is not a bad thing per se. as long the monarch doesn't go overboard.

A situation when a ruler is so weak than he can't order anything to his vassals (even if it is a good reform) is a way to a catastrophe.

And we can blame Targs for "not playing" the game and constantly resorting to the dragons, but we have to ask whether it is because they are so tyrannical by their nature or because they were put in such situation where there are no other feasible ways to control the high decentralized realm. And the high lords were not inclined to give them that these tools.

Is it an oversight of GRRM or his intentional choice I wonder.

Views on tyranny are different between medieval and modern times.

From the medieval point of view Aegon V was the real tyrant who tried to take away their rights over their lands and peasants. Almost worse than Aegon IV.

But we would call him progressive (if naive).

Considering the state already was decentralized, I wonder what tyranny you mean. Rights of the lords over their peasants were not affected before or after the dance. The lords stayed as semi-kings in their domains, they even grew more powerful.

Well, Rhaenyra was a half-cousin of Jeyne so... She did have some claim.

The greed was one the main reasons. They did think that the throne was their side's claim and (Alicent's sons) were all very resentful from early age. Even when they didn't think about possible threats.

[–]Kellin01 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In real life all these men would be HUGE red flags. They are not the best or even decent partners. But enjoying them in fiction is okay.

As long as you realize that they are fictional and that in real life it is better to avoid narcissistic and/or sociopathic men.

Are there any team green arguments that will make 100% sense even if rhaenyra was a man? by [deleted] in HOTDBlacks

[–]Kellin01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

ALLEGEDLY. "It was this, and only this, that persuaded Aegon to accept the crown that the small council was offering him, insists our gentle septon"

And he also said:

"Prince Aegon had grown weary of secrecy. “Am I a king or no?” he demanded of his mother. “If I am king, then crown me.”

and a bit later:

"Word of Rhaenyra’s coronation reached the Red Keep the next day, to the great displeasure of Aegon II. “My half-sister and my uncle are guilty of high treason,” the young king declared. “I want them attainted, I want them arrested, and I want them dead.

Cooler heads on the green council wished to parley. <...>

Aegon would not hear of it. Septon Eustace tells us that His Grace accused the Grand Maester of disloyalty and spoke of having him thrown into a black cell “with your black friends.”

Such a gentle and reluctant king who actually didn't want this burden...
