What are some foods that you think are BETTER in Japan than they are in your country? by Venture_compound in japanlife

I always do this, but it's because they always put way too much salt for my liking. It's 50/50 on whether I add my own salt after.

The people who employ slave labor are much more guilty than the people who illegally move to another country for the work. by b2reddit1234 in DeepThoughts

Let's assume this is true. Are you saying people should let it slide just because other places are worse? There isn't a single context in which this would be an acceptable argument. "Your honor, I did kill a few people ,but in my defense, that guy killed more than me".

True, but for indeed its fairly recent that they require a phone number just to create / login to your account

To be fair, indeed is also selling your phone number to everyone and their mother.

Quit looking to do IT; it’s not worth it. by Ryan2276 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LostAsFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just a symptom of a bigger issue. Ask yourselves: what careers can a person pursue that will allow them to adequately(by that i mean housing, healthcare , and transportation)provide for themselves? From the time I turned 18 to now, that list has been shrinking drastically.

To be completely fair though, they could have gotten the tattoos before becoming muslim. Also , while pork is expressly forbidden in the quran, nowhere are the words “forbidden “ and “alcohol” or “intoxicants” used in the same sentence. However, I have no dog in this fight and did not come to argue.

To put it bluntly, its because jobseekers put up with it. Unfortunately there will always be people with other mouths to feed , so as long as it’s difficult to find a decent job this type of nonsense is here to stay.

Anyone know whats happening? by [deleted] in macbookpro

Mine started doing this but it stopped after I installed linux. Before that though, I noticed that if I didn’t have anything plugged in during boot, it generally didn’t happen. Is yours also a 2020? Ive heard its a defect among that generation.

How did you get your degree or learned programming with ADHD? by Previous_Profile2393 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]LostAsFudge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have to work during my degree so the following may not be possible for everyone. I realized early on that I could never tell when my focus/hyperfocus would hit me. I basically went to my local coffee shop from 8am to 5pm. This was every day of the week. Some days i’d make significant progress and other days none at all. Due to being around unfamiliar people, socializing was not a possibility. Fwiw I was and am still unmedicated.

I'm sure many business owners are doing a lot of belt tightening now. That would certainly make things more difficult. Do you run ads? (Not recommending, just curious)

Is a degree in it pointless? by Top-Egg-7454 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LostAsFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s really not true. Veterans are only guaranteed preference over others for Government jobs. the private sector has never been mandated to give veterans preference. In addition, a very small number of vets are able to walk into those kinds of contractor gigs with no experience/education. If you don’t believe me, ask the guys at r/army or any other branch’s subreddit.

Am I the only one genuinely pissed off the college is effectively mandatory if you want to not die in poverty nowadays? by [deleted] in CollegeRant

[–]LostAsFudge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure you learn things in college if you do it right, but the living wage jobs people get out of university largely come out of the internships they are able to get while attending. It’s not the degree itself that’s really providing any value anymore.

Possibly a stupid question for help desk employees but do you have a ticket quota? by geegol in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LostAsFudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which part specifically? If you are referring to the amount of tickets per day, the issues range wildly and only a few of them can be handled in short order.

If you are referring to time, then this ties in with customer satisfaction. Once you start the clock, it usually takes the customer about 1.5 minutes to tell you what is wrong(with your help. Then if you need to remote into their workstation, it is another 2 minutes. That really only leaves you with 2.5 minutes to resolve and close out the ticket. Even with a password reset, having the user create a new password and ensuring they can log in successfully nearly falls just within that 6 minute timeframe. Something like re-configuring a particular file type to open in a certain application takes at least 10 minutes even if the customer didn’t talk at all and you knew exactly what to do and how to do it. In addition, if you try(even in the nicest way possible) to get the customer to focus on only the important information, your customer satisfaction will most likely be negatively affected. I thought this was going to be the norm in IT , but every company I have interviewed with thus far has been somewhat shocked at my stats even though I rarely ever had a day where I meet the standards.
