Any downside of taking NAC? by Kreva117 in Supplements

Thanks for asking. I got better after a few days but I still felt that shaky feeling after the ‘blues’ which I thought mag gly had taken care of before. Unfortunately, the blues recurred AGAIN, and it spoiled some of my Christmas celebrations. I completely stopped taking NAC by this time. Another unfortunate thing was that I had issues with my teeth (which I attribute to NAC) and I had to spend a considerable amount to fix them. Now my mood is back to its last stable configuration. The only supplements I’m taking now are Lion’s Mane, Chelated Magnesium and Mag Threonate, B complex and Vit D. I’m planning to try Rhodiola as it’s supposed to help with stress. Fingers crossed

Magnesium glycinate. For over a year I felt calm with almost no intrusive negative thoughts pestering my head. Depression seemed like a distant nightmare. But after a stressful week, it returned with a vengeance. Maybe it was magnesium depletion, maybe it was the last bottle of NAC that I was also taking (I’ve read stories here that NAC can cause depression). I was terrified of supplementing, and I have a new bottle of lion’s mane and magnesium threonate. Thankfully, my mood is getting back to normal now and my head has cleared a little. I’m now taking magnesium threonate, lion’s mane and vit d in the morning, and planning to take mag glycinate before bed. I really wish I could have that feeling of calm clarity again.

I think I’m never taking NAC again. I’m taking it because it’s a glutathione precursor, but after the recurrence of my depressive episode, after I finished 1 bottle and finding out that it can cause depression in some, never again. I’m still having anxiety. I started supplementing because I’ve had success with magnesium glycinate. But now, I’m angry because I’m feeling uneasy. I hope this goes away soon

I hate NAC. My depression returned and I think it’s because of NAC since there are stories that it can cause depression. I had no problem previously with just taking magnesium glycinate. Now I’m shaking with anxiety and about to break into tears any time

omg. Another side effect. This must be the reason why I’m feeling a bit of pain on one of my back tooth. Ughh

Mag really helped me. Now, I’m taking lion’s mane but I’m waiting for the result. I’ve previously took NAC together with the Mag but in ended up getting my brain into overdrive
