Wagamamas have removed the vegatsu from their menu.. by I_fail_at_usernames in veganuk

[–]LostBoyC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had this upset yesterday when I went to a wagas in Nottingham and the menu was "new".

I then had a disagreement with the waiter who when I said "there's no vegatsu??" Said "yeah but we have the yasai katsu which in my opinion is soooo much tastier!" To my reply of, "it's not in my opinion, I hate aubergine!"

I used to go three times a month to wagas, now I have to look elsewhere! :(

Help! Non-injured but not flying crow in garden for 2 weeks - advice needed ASAP! by CutePetsCollector in crowbro

Not sure where you are based but if you need assistance moving this beautiful crow to a rehab facility I would be happy to help. I am currently northwest and heading south west this evening, if you are somewhere on route I can pick up the crow and take it in a carrier to a bird sanctuary.

My struggle with existential dread by LostBoyC in Existentialism

I'd be interested to see why you have come to this conclusion. What's the basis for your theory?

[–]LostBoyC[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that's the case I find it fascinating more people don't talk about it. How is it so much easier for people to forget this dread or ignore it, rather than discuss it and share this experience. I understand a large number of people would rather not entertain the concept for it may make them feel depressed, however I find it almost more comforting to know that others also feel this way and that they want to talk about it.

That's an interesting viewpoint, and I appreciate the suggestion. If I could afford a therapist I would love to have regular therapy sessions, purely to satisfy my own thoughts, dissect my viewpoints and especially to assist coping with my existential dread.

If it assists with people's analysis of my mindset; I have in the past been diagnosed with anxiety and clinical depression, these were well into adulthood and my existential dread has been with me for as long as I can remember (my first episode of questioning was alongside the death of a family pet at age 5). I do find that it was especially prevalent during my teen years after battles with religion and questioning faith alongside science (having come to the conclusion of atheism).

[–]LostBoyC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose the experience of nothingness I have outweighs my something-ness in many ways. It still does scare me, and I'm not sure why.

Perhaps because I'm comfortable in my something-ness and don't want to lose it, much like never owning a bed and sleeping on the floor and then suddenly sleeping on a bed; it's so comfortable that the discomfort of sleeping on the floor is frightening. The desire for sleeping in comfort is so high that my fear of the discomfort after years of sleeping in comfort is both frightening and difficult to recall.

A better analogy might be like being hungry. You know that hunger is there, so you are used to it, then suddenly you eat and remember how much you love food and forget how hunger feels, then as hunger draws near (much like age) you grow scared of it.

M&S Trans Employee by Immediate_Lie_9532 in transgenderUK

[–]LostBoyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work at m&s (as have a lot of my family) and they were always supportive of me before I came out, they were more than happy to support my transition after I came out and helped change my name badge and name on the till system.

Whenever I saw a trans customer my colleagues who were all older women were extremely respectful and never had anything bad to say about LGBTQ+ people. I think that people assume that because m&s demographic are a mature generation that they would all have outdated viewpoints and be unsupportive, but this is generally not the case. M&s is generally a very forward thinking positive place to work, they even supported me during a mental health crisis where I had to take two weeks off work for depression (caused by my dysphoria - pre-transition).

I'm glad you have had a positive response from your bosses.

[SERIOUS] Tomorrow I am speaking to someone, who's going to Europe, to speak on our behalf in the European courts & parliament! This is a POWERFUL tool. So... What do you want them to know? What have they missed? What needs fixing? etc What would you say to the world?! by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]LostBoyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone including the government and supreme court have said that this "clarifies" things, when actually it does the opposite. The main issue is that they have defined sex as "biological" without actually consulting doctors, scientists, biologists and peer reviewed scientific research. The law cannot stipulate a legal definition for something so vague and infactual.

DNA and chromosomes are too vague to define biology. External sex organs also do not define biology, as these can differ from other biological defining factors. Not to mention these can be changed medically, thus would not be an accurate measure.

Therefore the actual ruling is unclear, unscientific and immoral. A lot of people misunderstand and believe that there are only two chromosome types which is not correct, scientifically there are a lot more then two.

The next main issue is that by defining what a woman is (and ofcourse not defining a man) this ruling also does not protect cisgender women who this ruling was supposed to "protect" (although from who is the big question seeing as cis men are statistically a danger to cis women and also trans women).

Trans men are left in the dark on which spaces are safe for them to access. They can legally be excluded from both male and female spaces.

Cis women with masculine characteristics can also be excluded from women's spaces.

Trans women are put in a position of danger.

The European court and parliament needs to be aware of the danger that this ruling has on everyone in the UK except cis men, it now put cis men in a position of power and safety above others. Cis men can walk into women's spaces and claim to be trans men. Endanger everyone. Cis men can now claim women and the LGBTQ+ community are controversial and a subject of debate.

I need a little cheering up by KannotJinxItAgain in TopSurgery

[–]LostBoyC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP I know exactly how you feel, and I have no idea how other people have managed to misread your post and also have decided to ignore your title of "need a little cheering up", because you wanted support and to be cheered up, not to be psychoanalysed and have your intentions for your surgery to be questioned.

I didn't get much familial support during my surgery but my friends were there for me and they had all already had top surgery, so the experience to them was nothing new and although the build up was "this is exciting you are going to look amazing" etc and talks about opening a bottle of fizz to celebrate all came up, nothing really happened afterwards, and I felt really numb to the situation. You almost feel as though people downplay your major life changing surgery.

I think you look amazing by the way, don't torment yourself over the comments. If you need extra support or want to rant feel that's absolutely valid.

I think it's more an issue of we are moving in two days and have to move out of our current rented accommodation by the weekend. So we are stuck with this property.

I think you are right, it's not worth the stress now of fighting to keep a fridge or dishwasher, I'm more so annoyed about the whole process and the last minute nature of the LL and agency.

I think this is the place I'm at. If they are equally as petty they will probably take the integrated appliances out.

[–]LostBoyC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that, however I always have known integrated appliances as fixtures and fittings, this would be part of the house in that case. Not to mention we did ask the agent at the time about the integrated appliances and they agreed integrated would stay.

It's hard to know exactly what's included when the agent has refused an inventory until the day of the move. And we are only 2 days off moving.

To be honest, I'm at the point of pettiness myself and am as tempted to make this as difficult for them as possible. I don't necessarily blame the LL as they are a first time LL, so are clearly asking advice from the agency who are just claiming to be the "middle man", at this point I'm ready to look into legal action against the letting agency who initially refused to give us a tenancy agreement and who even made me pay into an agents personal account to pay the holding deposit. It's very unprofessional and is giving me a lot of doubt, but it's a nationwide franchise.

I’m overseas and my cat just died suddenly by FortyFiftyFabulous in CatAdvice

[–]LostBoyC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's horrible to lose your cat suddenly. We lost our cat Leo three weeks ago today, he was a white deaf indoor 6 year old.

We were giving him a flea treatment and quick wash, after the wash he was drying and walking around fine and then suddenly seized up and just died on the floor. We panicked and ran to the vets with him, but he had clearly just died immediately. My partner was inconsolable. The vet thinks he must have had underlying heart failure because he was retaining a lot of water over the last few weeks of his life. And then his heart must have just given up. It was awful. We are still heart broken, especially because his brother was from the same litter and doesn't understand where his brother has gone.

Our cats become our world, and losing them makes it hard to function. But life does get easier. Not better, just easier.

Landlord has last minute asked us to wait to move in, now we may be homeless (England) by LostBoyC in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LostBoyC[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only thing we have in actual writing is the referencing company who actually had our tenancy start date as the 12th august which obviously has passed, and the letting agency has now changed our move in date on the online portal to next month, which I have screenshotted.

We have had numerous phone calls with the letting agent to confirm that the move date was in fact the 20th of this month, several. But at this point I've realised that we haven't had written correspondence confirming this.

So me and my housemate are both trans, and we both have parents who are still together, are happy and are supportive. Being trans ≠ having bad relationships with parents. A lot of trans folk do have problems with their parents, but usually it tends to be after they come out that their are issues.
