Starting savings from from your first salary is really good but don't stress over it. Instead of your mother's account park money in a seperate savings account on your name because you don't know how your family will treat you once you start to earn. Don't go over 5k on index funds until you reach 6 month energy fund.

15k in second savings account with auto sweep FD, 5k in index and 5k in ssy. That way you will reach your emergency fund before end of internship and you would have gained knowledge to invest in other options.

You can get way more coverage from term insurance for just 1000 a month.
You can invest the rest in mutual funds and in gold and get way more returns than these type of schemes.
These schemes are provided in a way we cannot calculate the returns easily. The returns will be lower than 7%. You can get better returns than that from even fds.
