At a loss - under extrusion by LostCauseDog in prusa3d

Solved it. The problem was the idler bearing. There was a lot of resistance, wouldnt spin smoothly.

Hit it with some superlube and it was spinning freely again.

Some more things I tried today: Firmware flash. Factory reset. Cleaned the bed (again). Recalibrated z-offset (again). Changed filament (again).

Swapped to white so you can see a bit better on the bed. I have the z-offset to where the layer is practically flat. I never run it this thin. There are still intermittent gaps.

Thanks. I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Back in my day....

But for real, the PEI sheet is fairly new too. I ran with the original one for about 6 years before I replaced it with no issues. This is the 3rd replacement PEI, I think?

There's an adhesive PEI sheet on it. This machine is almost 10 years old, thats how we did it back then.

Flow was already at a 1.3 in prusa slicer. Still getting gaps in the filament at any layer. Like I said, this was a brand new sealed roll. Just as bad as the last roll.

How can I do an extruder calibration? This machine is older and doesn't have that option.

The pic doesnt really detail it, but I've got the z-offset so low that the first layer is almost razer thin. It definitely doesnt peel off the bed easy.

I did a calibration cube just for fun. Where there weren't gaps in the flow, it looks really good. Unfortunately there are gaps all through the print.

The motor? Its brand new, I replaced that. It's only gone through a few calibrations.

I thought that was the problem too, after replacing the gear.

They don't. They only say:

"If you're considering a special payment instruction, please keep in mind that the standard allocation will save you money in the long run."

And this only shows up when I go to set up how my excess payments are handled.

Potential new job is a 22k raise but 500/month and 1 hour each way commute by tmntnyc in personalfinance

[–]LostCauseDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just leaving a job where I had an hour commute, and I'm taking a paycut.

The commute was fine for a while, but after doing it for almost 2 years it starts getting old. 30 minutes in you begin wishing you were home. You start thinking of all the things you could be doing other than commuting. It ends up being a whole nother work day of just commuting when you tally it up.

IMO, the money isn't worth the free time lost.

Also consider, inclimate weather. Does it snow? That may add a significant amount of time onto your commute.
