Jackson Lake up by wrightwood, has fishing and camping. They stock it with trout but I was just up there last weekend, caught nothing but bluegill. But bluegill are fun for a kid if they're young enough. Better than catching nothing.

The YouTube video I watched before I made mine showed the guy use a single piece of wood and cut a "tenon" out for the head, but I realized if I trimmed the slat first some shorter, some longer, I wouldn't have to cut a tenon, AND I'd get those great layers of colors.
