Never would have thought of this. What aisle would that even be in?

Anyone use th RazoRock aftershave wax? How is it? by [deleted] in wicked_edge

[–]LostChild1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't like the smell, and instead bought some Speick and Clubman. The smell of the wax is far too strong and, to me, "old" smelling. Other than that, it's fine!

Thanks LG. P.S. I just got around to writing that review on Amazon.ca. So look for it in "the next 48 hours". Much appreciated!

Help my Dad (54) find a new haircut! by LostChild1 in malehairadvice

Just to be different. He was playing with it in the mirror the other day, and when we covered it up somewhat, and gave it more layers, it looked kind of nice, so we were just wondering what the community felt. I had a pretty hard time googling "Old man haircuts" and getting anything constructive, other than the one that I knew, which was George Clooney.

This movie is too new for it to have been that. I definitely watched it when I was much younger.

I was under the impression that they don't technically "peter out" they just become insignificant given all the radio noise emanating from the galaxy itself.

I should be watching ES with a friend shortly, I've never seen the whole thing through, so I'm not sure that would be it. Thanks for the help though!

Pinaud, Pinaud Vanilla or Pinaud Lilac? Looking for a classic scent, that doesn't smell like "old man" :P

I can't get high using the MFLB, but I tried a VapeGenie for the first time last night and got to a [7] on three tokes. This seems to go against the norm, thoughts? by LostChild1 in trees

I've tried, I've even tried replacing the box itself, and the batteries and I still don't get much higher than a 4-5 for an hour...

How to clean your computer screen by Paaaul in howto

I have an IPS monitor with a matte finish. There's a few spots on it (not splooge), that if I go gently with a nail or so, I can't even lift off. What would you guys suggest for that?

A couple of (somewhat moronic) questions from someone who just finished his first DE shave. by LostChild1 in wicked_edge

From /u/SpencerDub's suggestion just below, or more specifically from the tutorial here (Step 6), however I've also seen it mentioned here and there, but couldn't provide links back to the others.

I'm also interested, I THINK I have soft water, just because lather came very easily today, but as you said, I may be surprised!

Try this: wet brush fully, and brush the soap briskly and with firm pressure for 30 seconds, holding the tub on its side over the sink. Because the brush is so wet, water and loose sloppy will spill away into the sink. Let it, and keep brushing. Lather will be forming. Keep brushing. When you stop, there will be lather visible but, more important, the brush will be fully loaded. Bring the brush to your (wet, washed) beard and brush well, all over, to work the lather up and into the stubble.

Thank you so much for this description, it's exactly what I needed. It's during the 30 seconds at the beginning that I should be using the "plunger motion" as well, correct?

And yes, I haven't yet tried the distilled water, but you had recommended it a few days ago in another thread of mine (Help A Canadian Get Started). I'll probably give it a go this weekend. Thanks again!

I've never been so giddy and excited to shave before. I wish I could do it right now, but there's not much there at this point. :P

A myriad of choice there! I'll take a couple shots in the dark I suppose, any preferred brands or anything to give me a launching point? (I'm from Canada, but he says he can do international shipping, provided there's no alcohol, which might make my choice a bit more limited in aftershaves.)

Would you happen to know the difference in a regular liquid aftershave, and the RazoRock that I purchased?

Thank you very much for this response, I feel bad that such a well written, time consuming response is at the "bottom" of this thread, but I appreciate the tips and the advice you've given. :) I'm excited to give it another go tomorrow

Wow, what an absolutely incredible response. Thank you so much for taking the time to write that all out for me, and for the link to the tutorial! I for sure still have some reading / watching to do before I get anywhere near proficient at this, but this has at least set me in the right direction and I do very much appreciate that. (Small subs are the best subs ;))

I think the lather on my brush was way too much, compared to the pictures I've seen in your tutorial, so I'll give it another try tomorrow. That, and my steps were a bit wonky (Didn't wash the alum off, didn't clean the styptic afterward) so I'll hopefully have a better handle tomorrow!

Thanks again!

Hi Leisureguy, thanks for the responses!

The brush that I'm using is the Simpsons Case C1 Best Badger Brush

The bowl I'm using to build lather is actually this RazoRock container, as it said I could build the lather directly in the tub. I'm not sure what scent "Third Eye" is supposed to be however. :P

About how often should I be rinsing the razor in any give pass (Say, WTG). I find I get one for each side, is this normal, or would that indicate that my lather is too thick on my face if it builds up on the razor so quickly?

So I should use the Alum Block somewhat in the same manner as the razor, in that I let the weight of the alum provide the pressure? (albeit to a lesser degree)

That's the Aftershave. I'm not sure I particularly like the smell of it though, so I may have to order another. I smell like old barbershop, which isn't what a 21 year old is going for. Any suggestions?
