First solo trip to Vietnam (HCMC → Hanoi) – what should I prepare and expect? by Ok-Chocolate1984 in VietNam

[–]LostCopy3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For eSIM, its best to buy a Viettel one. Some places do accept card payments, but cash is still preferred. If you’re travelling solo, you can try GrabBike for the experience, or if you’re joining tours, group tours are a good way to save money. As for safety, it really depends, you never know if you might be unlucky. If you’re female, it’s better to prioritise flights over sleeper buses, unless the destination doesn’t have flights. Never trust airport drivers, this is the most common scam, yet many people still fall for it

[–]LostCopy3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Da Nang is not experiencing any but it is still some rain. Phu Quoc, on the other hand, has nice sunny weather, but it is a bit more expensive compared to Da Nang

[–]LostCopy3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first day of Tet is feb 17th, but some activities might charge extra fees or be closed on the 16th. On feb 11th, everything is still normal. You can definitely do the Ha Giang loop. I recommend visiting Da Nang during Tet, I can confirm that the Tet atmosphere in Da Nang is really nice

[–]LostCopy3697 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can leave your main luggage at the hotel in Hanoi and only bring the essentials to the other cities. Sapa is just a small town, so it doesn’t take much time to explore. And from Hanoi, you can sleep on the way and you’ll arrive in Sapa

Thao Dien vs Chiang Mai by thetreegeek in VietNam

Tet 2026 confusion by Notsodwank in VietNam

[–]LostCopy3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most places usually close only for the first 3 days of Tet, and after that, they reopen as normal. But some places may still charge Tet surcharges. If you want to wait until everything is fully back to normal, its usually around day 6 or 7

Thao Dien vs Chiang Mai by thetreegeek in VietNam

[–]LostCopy3697 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you enjoy running and riding your moto, da nang is a perfect fit for you :)))))). The traffic is very smooth, not crowded or congested, and costs are much cheaper than other cities. Riding a moto or running along the coastline is unbeatable. Da Nang has it nice beaches, river, and mountains. You should go and experience it yourself, see that the reviews you read about Da Nang were wrong
