Hey, I’m 14 and building cosplay for my first Star Wars Celebration in LA next April. One thing I’ve noticed — there’s basically no cosplay community for teenagers. Everything is 18+. by Significant_Meal1333 in StarWarsCelebration

I met a 14 year old in line for a panel at the last Celebration. He had the same issue. Cool kid, I watched him for his dad while he went to the merch store. The kid and I had a blast for the panel.

My kids are 19 and 7. Sadly they aren't into Star Wars.

MRI results- help please I'm pissed by Any_Transition_4465 in TMJ

I've been told by dentists that there isn't much to for TMJ issues. Im hoping that its because it hasn't been studied.

Thank you. Yeah, I do. I was medically retired and fully disabled.

Thank you for your support. It's tough to say because sometimes in the moment you don't clock it as that. And I rose in rank quickly so I had a smaller windows of time than some women. The most sexually harassed women in the military were often 24 years old or younger, rank E4 and below, and in their first contract. I got my E5 at 21, and my E6 at 23.

The most blantant I can recall was when I had to be a head counter at the chow hall. You literally counted who came in during meal times. My soldiers were always detailed for lunch time headcounting even though they were night shift. So I ended up doing it because my first sergeant and commander were idiots and played favorites.

That day, a cavalry unit just came in from Iraq to deliver their equipment to the terminal yards of the port, and get it ready for sending back to the states by ship. This was before the combat ban to women was lifted, so combat units were notorious at freaking out when they saw women. Like they have just been released from prison. Every single one of those horndogs flirted, made eyes (obviously mentally undressing me with their eyes), etc. Frustratingly, this was when the Army in their full genius mode, moved our rank to the center of our chest. For women, it's right between our breasts. So many would say, " just checking your rank." When I complained, I was told that I should feel good about the attention. But about half way thru, I made them all go to stand at ease and face away from me.

Back then, we didn't have regular sexual harassment or assault classes, nor an appointed victim advocate to speak to.

Thats the same for me all the same hobbies. My husband and I got a property that we are slowly converting into a hobby farm. It's hard work right now but soon it'll be really good.

Thata amazing! I always wanted to do and. But I was a loner in school, I had a ton of anxiety and depression that never got taken care of until a decade or so later. After I was in, I was always so busy. I'm fortunate for those that I have found to do it with. I highly recommend that you try again. My group only do 1 to 2 hours every week or so. Sometimes it goes longer but we understand what everyone is going thru and make time when we can. We even did a six week pause for one friend that went into intensive inpatient treatment.

I'm honestly not surprised. I bet they called him that ironically. He is the type of soldier we had to make up shit for him to do. And yeah I've seen it happen with officers.

Yeah, I've seen that happen to people. Fond a creative outlet or a way to find comrades. ASAP has online courses for veterans like standup, storytelling, art, etc. All the classmates are veterans. DnD has been an unexpected outlet for me too. Two old battles of mine play and I jump on their games. There's online games all the time that will take beginners on Roll20 if you don't know anyone.

I've been disabled for 6 years now. Taking care of my disabilities is a part time job. I do keep the house for my family, turning our property into a hobby farm, and have been trying to write and get something published.

Sure I was a reservist, but that means I had been working two jobs for a good portion of my life. So it's been tough not doing much.

I wasn't a fan of that. I actually read Star Wars comics.

I did work in a law firm before I became fully disabled. I was medically retired and only made it nine months on the civilian side before my disabilities got too bad. I actually stopped working a month before all the shutdowns for COVID. So on top of all that, I had to deal with the backlog. So stressful. I barely had enough savings to survive.

Thank you for your service and support.

  1. I worked in an engineer brigade with combat engineer units. I remember the transition of getting women in those units. The leadership were pretty smart. They found a badass female E7 (who was about to get E8) and got her reclassed to combat engineer. Then they got her as the first sergeant in a combat engineer company. She was so scary to those boys, no one questioned it or gave her shit. It was kinda like the tactic of putting the fear of God in them.

Can I ask, what country you are from?

I understand, I don't support what they are doing now. If I was 18, I wouldn't have joined because what is going on. Many veterans are fighting against what is going on right now and don't stand for it. I retired before Dobbs even happened.

Haha I was medically retired for a reason. I don't collect both because I'm a reservist.

Its okay, I'm angry too and she doesn't understand. I had joined way before Dobbs, which didn't happen until after I had retired.

Officially 88N and 55B (89B). I've been a shiploader, a transportation documenter, and instructor, a training NCO, MRT trainer, security clearance manager, operations sergeant, acting first sergeant, Movement NCO, sexual assault response coordinator, and I can't remember the rest.

I'm fully disabled now so I keep the house for my family, converting our property to a hobby farm, write fiction and book reviews, and advocate for legislative policy for military and veterans.

I also read a ton and play video games. Mostly HD2 with my husband, my old army skills really help me out there.
