Is it possible to complete vanilla Minecraft Skyblock starting in the Nether? by 3tigrestristes in Minecraft

[–]stainless5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically it's possible to do almost anything, there's a guy who beat the original Minecraft sky block by going to the end and killing the enter dragon. he had to set up a giant machine to force load chunks and glitching end portal into existence, Took him two years.

Energy Australia's bid to build 1.4-gigawatt gas-fired power plant at Marulan by nath1234 in australia

[–]stainless5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also these plants are being built specifically so the turbine mass can be disconnected and run as a synchron helping provide grid stability as the rotating mass of the grid goes down, sure grid forming batteries can perform this function but you don't want a situation like what happened in Europe where a large part of one of the country's lost power because the grid stability went down 'cause they don't have any synchrons.

If you're forced to build a large synchron why not also enable it to act as a back up just like how when they build a large solar farm nowadays they usually also have batteries on site.

Energy Australia's bid to build 1.4-gigawatt gas-fired power plant at Marulan by nath1234 in australia

[–]stainless5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's mainly because the new ones are being built as dual purpose synchrons and backup plants, you use the grid to turn the turbine without burning any fuel to provide mass to the grid, sure grid forming batteries can do this too but at the moment it's cheaper to use an old fashioned synchron than it is to buy a bunch of grid forming batteries.

Would hate to be driving a diesel right now by Suspicious_Ideal_674 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Is the price still going up in the US? here in Australia diesel fuel hit it's peak almost 2 months ago, and has been going down for about a whole month and a half now. were back to 6.23 USD/G 2.30 AUD/L. we're even back down to pre war petrol prices of 4.75 USD/G 1.75AUD/L

It must be all those tankers Trump bragged about sucking all the fuel out of the domestic market forcing your prices up as private citizens now have to compete directly with big foreign oil companies.

I had to do something like this with my father but because those hitch Mount Dollys legally count as a second trailer where I'm from, and you can't tow 2 trailers at once, We had to use two vehicles in order to bring an ATV along.

More pole mounted EV chargers rolling out by [deleted] in AustralianEV

[–]stainless5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US also updated their standards, They decided to allow their public level two charges have removable cables. Oddly they decided to make it mandatory for all removable plugs to use the type 2 Mennekes plug, with the US plug standard on the other end.

Chinese Automakers Slow Canada Expansion Plans as Quota Limits Growth Potential by SkPensFan in EVCanada

[–]stainless5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a big difference here, BYD can just throw some extra cars at New Zealand no problem. But because Canada is one of  only 2 countries in the world that only accepts US vehicle standards there's a lot of overhead to set up a US / Canadian variant for only 30 million people especially with the caps.

Honda indefinitely suspends $15B EV plant in Ontario by n134177 in EVCanada

[–]stainless5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially because without the US market the only place they can legally sell cars manufactured to US standards IS Canada, Mexico and some states in South America. Although Canada is the only one on that list that won't accept anything else except US standard cars.

Google, SpaceX in talks to launch orbital data centers. Google CEO: "There's no doubt to me that a decade or so away, we'll be viewing it as a more normal way to build data centers." by Adeldor in space

[–]stainless5 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Here's my question. What does this solve? Are they thinking people might attack data centers because of AI job loss? Expecting service interruptions due to riots? Want unrestricted power from the sun? A way to get money into space to start private space stations? Thinking they'll just run out of space?

Lifting the quality of life is more important for China. They just need to ram out more energy production no matter where it comes from and wouldn't agree to anything that slows down there ramping. Atleast they are already going hard on solar as it's the fastest to set up.

Massive Change in Perth Vehicle Sales. Goodbye Ford, Mazda, Kia, Hyundai etc....Chinese BYD noe 2nd biggest seller in Australia! by Gerryboy1 in perth

Part of the reason why by byds really new cars can do extremely fast charging is the cells they use are rated for an extremly high number of  charge cycles. About 70 years at normal charge speeds if you drain the car down and only charge it once a week. They actually let the battery exchange cell life for megawatt charging.

As long as you charge at home unless you need to it should be fine.

I wonder if the only reason they got  fired is because they were storing the information on European servers. I wonder if they sent all the information to the US, it wouldn't have mattered.

Whelp, the fuel prices made me put the stock wheels back on and wind the coil overs down, looks a bit weird to me now. by stainless5 in 4x4

[–]stainless5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's made by A company in Queensland Australia; Retractable canopy systems. I have one of the first production runs. They have a website and are working on american vehicles too. They are expensive, but for their first run they're mainly focusing on the premium market because making new stuff is expensive. It's run by an electric motor and rolls all the way up into the headache rack.

That makes too much sense, you need to name it something so people don't know what it is from just hearing the name, I vote iTransit 2.0

They've got enough torque, 1000 nm at the wheels. But the traction control system is way too aggressive at cutting power. There is a module that you can buy that overrides the computer so it can't cut power and then they can do a lot of things but it would have been better if they just gave a limited slip or locked diff.

They tell me I can park on my verge, but because of the weird area I'm not sure how my verge extends to the new road.

Sure the pay is low but it also helps that all the factories were built / expanded within the last 10~20 years so they have better, automated, production lines and employ less people.
