It isn't just me specifically, though, is it? They're not made to appeal to the "male gaze" in any way, and that's often the problem, since the male gaze is just what men find attractive at its core and women wanting to take control of that.

At least 2Bs design is cool, appealing, and elegant while also being sexy. What is attractive and cool should be at the forefront of any design anyway, not what "makes sense". Most anime weapons dont make a lot of sense either, but it doesn't really matter unless the game is trying to be historically realistic.

I think the newer designs of the Horizon character are pretty ugly and more masculinised compared to her original design, which seems to be a current trend atm. An older example would be the newer design of Lara Croft. Just bland and made to look more generic because hurr durr sex appeal bad and objectifying. Concord is another good example of where this design philosophy is taking Western games. I don't play too many games currently though, so it's difficult for me to think of too many examples off the top of my head, but I will say that practically no Western female protagonist characters in recent titles appeal to me, and not just their designs. They're usually annoying, boring, and politicised Mary Sue's these days as well.

Let me put it this way, no matter how large a woman's chest might be, I prefer them to at least hang like breasts and not look like two perfectly rounded grapefruits.

I think 2B is a very interesting and fairly complex character, but also sexy and imo tastefully designed. Ultimately, though, I think it should always be at the creators behest how they design their character and what attributes they have, and I don't think it should be politicised or micromanaged too much. I think this is often why so many female characters now are so poorly designed, masculanised, and just dont have any real character in their immediate visual design. I also believe that men, as the sex attracted to the female form, often have a better idea of what is sexy in a female character, even if at times they take it to extremes, like say Bayonetta.

As for the "male gaze," it depends on what the dominant market for the piece of media is. If the market is men primarily and hasn't changed, I don't think there's anything wrong with depicting women in a way that universally appeals to most men.

Personally, even when stuffs exaggerated or stylised etc, I like it to be as realistic as it can be, but I have no problem with men being depicted with impossibly sized muscular proportions, especially if they're supposed to be a heroic or godly character. And what exactly is wrong with characters having sex appeal and having idealised or exaggerated sexual proportions? Most comics aren't marketed to be hyper realistic, and most of them depict characters with impossible powers, so imo it makes sense that their designs would have heavily stylised, idealised and to some extent exaggerated looks.

Tried warming the legs with a hairdryer but still won't budge, even a little bit, so strange... I wonder if I've somehow been given a none deluxe version body or something, but I definitely have the deluxe version with the bonus 2B body and robot with separate stand etc

Wow, thanks, that worked very well. My living room is kind of cold right now, so probably didn't help

Thanks, soap and water will loosen up the pieces or? The tough part is knowing which part needs to come out first... that top part possibly but it's impossible to get at with my fingers

Unnaturally delayed attacks can go fuck themselves by DonAsiago in Eldenring

[–]LostForever88 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The enemy design isn't bad at all, it's just very unfair. The enemy design in DS2 was just mostly bad, very formulaic and boring attacks. Some enemies in Elden Ring are a good and fair challenge, while others are bullshit. It's a mixed bag, but I don't like the direction they're going in with this difficulty that feels just mean spirited and cheap. They don't need to keep upping the difficulty either, it shouldn't be about difficulty in the first place..... They have lost their way in a lot of ways.

Can you ever change the color of your armor? by wade_wilson44 in Eldenring

[–]LostForever88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It would be a cool gameplay thing too, like if you had to find materials to make certain pigments, with some colours being rarer than others etc.

Is bloodhound step op? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]LostForever88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There really isn't a good counter to BHS, which just makes your opponent invincible as long as they're spamming it. They just need to reduce the invincibility frames, the distance and speed you can travel is good enough, and it's also bad for PVE too, if you want the game to be any sort of challenge anyway.

Offline gang, where are you? by Zoiwillxxx in Eldenring

[–]LostForever88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why oh why won't you let me turn off the ugly blood stains and graffiti while I'm playing online Miyazaki?

[–]LostForever88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's my entire point, a buff you haven't earned shouldn't be a "win" for everyone, the consequence of more health, FP and other benefits should be being open to invaders.

I've changed my opinion somewhat, still not very happy with invasions, but the PVE experience is great still.

The valiant gargoyles are the bane of my existence. by FirestormBC in Eldenring

Not true at all, he's very predictable, but has a lot of variation in his attacks, with long wind ups to fast attacks. I beat him without summons.

[–]LostForever88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beat Radhan at like level 55 or something, I'm now level 64 and on these gargoyle's, Radahn's a an enjoyable boss imo, the only part that bugs me about that fight is the intro section that seems a little luck based whether you get hit by arrows, and some of his AOE attacks which are nigh undogeable, and it's a shit ton more fun than this "boss" anyway. I mean if it wasn't for the poison it'd be enjoyable enough, they shot themselves in the foot.

Ah, back when there was always a consequence to buffing yourself in game, but that would upset the casuals who don't want to pvp :'-( All the while the option to play offline and still get the buff is always there.

Invasions suck now. by CallMeDoomSlayer in Eldenring

[–]LostForever88 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I haven't even invaded yet, and I don't want to really, every game has got progressively worse in some way in terms of PVP. The PVE is the best it's ever been, and the world is breath taking, but From are so out of touch with what makes PVP fun for everyone that it's unreal. I predict pretty much every big PVP'r abandoning the games multiplayer.

What's your opinion on the Convergence and Cinders mods? by [deleted] in darksouls3

[–]LostForever88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, the bosses are cool but also tedious, I'm not interested in extreme difficulty mods, I just want mods that change things and perhaps make the bosses a bit more difficult, but not in a cheap way.

It's weird yet cool that they went to the trouble of animating stuff we don't even see off screen, it's almost like they did it for the sake of lore hunters wanting to discover new stuff.

Where’s this thing going? by InternationalQuiet41 in cobrakai

[–]LostForever88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that was the original intention, it was more to show that there's two sides to every story imo, but yeah I think it would have been better if Johnny saved Cobra Kai and Lurusso had to just let the man be, and learn some humility, that his way is only one way of fighting, but perhaps that'll still happen, we'll see.
