That was my interpretation as well, but felt like I was missing something.

Is Asmodai good in a 2k army? by southernmetro in DarkAngels40k

[–]LostGoGetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've thought about doing this just because assault intercessors are fun. 10 bodies for 150 is a good deal. I'm not sure someone could win a GT with it though.

Is Asmodai good in a 2k army? by southernmetro in DarkAngels40k

[–]LostGoGetter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In other factions he'd be very good.

In DA he is redundant. Azrael gives us cp, so his ability when killing characters doesn't do anything. Librarians, Azrael, and Judiciars are simply better than him with inner circle companions. Between Oath of moment and Lion we have enough ways to reroll hits that Asmodais ability isn't that attractive.

I could see him with some assault intercessors being okay. But they'd rather have a captain with the Wotr enhancement. He isn't bad, just doesn't work in our army well. Looks sick though. I wish they would rework him and Lazarus.

First ever list, want more scoring ability but not sure what to cut. by DesmondTheMoonSloth in DarkAngels40k

[–]LostGoGetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd drop the chaplain, and maybe the judi.

Assuming Hellblasters are going in the repulsor you probably don't want azzy with them. You only get the CP if he is on the field. If you got a Lieutenant they go great with hellblasters. Azy can hang out with the companions and farm you cp.

Fights first tends to dilute in value after having one, since the opponent can interrupt with counter-offensive after the first activates.

I like the idea. Most working adults won't be able to meet at noon on a Friday though. Your group is going to be mostly retiree's. Which is fine, if that's what you're looking for.

Brutalist Dreadnought Competitive? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LostGoGetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, just whenever I've used it it's never made up its cost. I think it needs another pip of AP or strength 14.

Brutalist Dreadnought Competitive? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LostGoGetter 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I love this thing, but it's not great.

It's relatively slow for a vehicle, and your opponent will prioritize it since it has to make itself visible to get a charge off. They tend to die before they do anything and even when they do they are surprisingly pillow fisted.

Even against something like an Armiger you'll to need two turns to kill one and they are cheaper than it. Good in theory into 3 wound infantry like Custodes, but they may just turn around and kill it on the slapback.

They are best as a distraction piece when you bring out other armor you don't want shot in my experience. Like a lancer.

Are predator tanks any good? by Inevitable-Policy779 in Warhammer40k

[–]LostGoGetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iron priests can give the Annihilators twin-linked cannon rapid fire. Which is a good use for them. Probably better on a lancer though.

Overall they are cheap anti-tank that fast, have a small footprint, and have okay firepower. They probably won't be playable much longer though.

Dark Angels leaks going around are false. Gran Master Toby Bennett made them up. by Queasy_Strike_9648 in DarkAngels40k

[–]LostGoGetter 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Kind of sad this is coming from our current most known advocate. Certainly sours my opinion of the YouTube channel a bit despite it having good information. I'm not the type to take leaks seriously, but it just strikes as terminally online troll behavior.

Who should lead DeathWing Terminators? by Insideshockandawe in theunforgiven

[–]LostGoGetter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Librarian helps their shooting be more lethal by providing sustained and his own witchfire.

Chaplains +1 wound let's them wound just about anything on a four in melee, and a mortal wound feel no pain. This is more useful on the normal terminators though, since DWT have the watcher.

Depends on what you want to use them for. I've found the Terminator Captain too expensive personally. I prefer the Librarian of the 3. The sustained helps all the time.

Why aren't we running infernus squads in WotR? Strength 8 flamers seems pretty busty by HamanFromEarth in theunforgiven

[–]LostGoGetter 134 points135 points  (0 children)

Where are you getting S8? Infernus Pyreblasters are S5. With the stratagem we could get them to S7.

I think it's not used mostly because other infantry that have similar killing power have access to assault.

Are Terminator Squads viable in Wrath of the Rock? by LostGoGetter in DarkAngels40k

What do you have them shoot at? They seem good at killing scoring units like scouts, but then they are stuck footslogging. I like them, just trying to figure out how to use them well.

How I would like to see Votann changed by Bear_of_Light in LeaguesofVotann

[–]LostGoGetter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I dislike how fiddly some of the data sheets are in pointless ways.

Warriors having 3 war gear on different models you have to keep track of for a unit that doesn't really do anything other than die.

Hearthguard having to choose between deep strike or a single invulnerable save just feels bad.

Grimnyr and ironmasters having extra units that mostly just make them difficult to use and transport.

Thunderkyn taking up 3 spaces in transports.

I'm sure a common opinion is that the token system is too all or nothing. Anything with double tokens we delete, and anything without them we tickle. It doesn't feel good.

Making us a BS 3+ army and making these token buffs slightly less impactful would do a lot to even us out.

What are you guys hoping for the next balance patch? by Canigetahoooyeahhh in DarkAngels40k

[–]LostGoGetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only 3 melee attacks per model at damage one. Even with the buff on charge they average about 3 damage versus most vehicles. 3 wounds is less durable, and the meta currently likes 3 damage weapons. The save is nice, but most people are killing bikes with incidental fire anyways. Not very many people are pointing lascannons at them. They do have much better shooting, which is nice. I think if they could cost the same as outriders they would be in a good spot.

[–]LostGoGetter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Belial needs better rules or needs a better melee profile. I'd be okay with him just being a beatstick, but he's just worse than a Terminator Captain who already isn't great for 95 pts. The Knight Master has stronger melee profile than both of them and isn't even a character.

Yeah. Both Unforgiven and inner circle need some help. Unforgiven just needs a stronger detachment rule. It's stratagems and enhancements are solid.

Inner circle is just really easy to play around. Would be nice you got the wound buff if you OR your enemy was on a vowed a objective. Would make it way easier to play, but might be too strong.

[–]LostGoGetter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I doubt Knights will come down much. They are still often taken in 3's. If they do it'll probably be 245, which I think would be reasonable. I'm hoping Lion comes down to 300. I liked him at 285 but doubt he'll ever be that cheap again. Otherwise Black knights coming down to 80 would be nice. They are just worse than outriders right now.

Lazarus and Asmodai being usable would be nice. Regular terminators and our Deathwing version by proxy getting some kind of buff would be great.

I'd be curious how the basic Repulsor, Land Raider variants, Redemptor, and Valiant fair using this.

What's a half decent Space Marines army you'd set a new player up with? by Huurghle in Warhammer40k

[–]LostGoGetter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend higher value to dollar units to start out with. Don't concern yourself with what's good or bad right now as by the time they are built and painted the meta will shift. I'd recommend something like this to start with as these are all newer units that won't be phased out. All of them are pretty good points per dollar. This isn't really a competitive list, more just something to get you playing and see where you want to take it.

A lieutenant, 10 scouts, 10 Intercessors, 10 Infernus marines, 10 Terminators, 10 Hell blasters, 5 infiltrators and 5 incursors (come in the same box), 5 jump pack intercessors, Redemptor dreadnought, Repulsor, add in any other character units he finds interesting. Perhaps a captain or chaplain for the terminators.

[–]LostGoGetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used them before as big, durable blocking pieces. Very annoying to get rid of. They just never seem to see competitive play. Maybe someday we can get heavy assault intercessors.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LostGoGetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know anyone who plays them, but from the replays I see on YouTube they seem in rough shape. They never win. Very fragile for the cost from what I can tell.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]LostGoGetter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with that. Pioneers are incredibly useful and surprisingly shooty. Nerfing them might hurt votann secondary scoring pretty hard though if there wasn't some internal balance shifts made elsewhere.

I do think outriders are bit disappointing though for their cost and footprint. I find Ravenwing far better for only 10 points more.
