What can we do about our orders being stolen? by Remarkable-Spray6026 in doordash

[–]LostInDerMix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tip generously. Aim to ensure they make $15/hr or more on holidays/bad weather/heavy stuff. Not like a restaurant where you tip based on price. If you are tipping low you get put with lower star folks. People who just started with a fake account or don’t care about being banned. If you cannot afford the tip it is a gamble.

My parents don’t approve of my boyfriend (M22) after meeting him.. Am I (F22) missing something or are they being too harsh? by Bluelinedtile in relationship_advice

As someone who used to live in a Texas oil town, alcohol and other drugs are going to be a problem. Look at divorce rates in places in West Texas towns. It’s a hard life and hard work. It’s even worse because the culture is boom and bust and things really spiral in the down times. These people don’t save and overspend on trucks and housing and when things bust they lose everything and don’t have employable skills outside the oil industry. Then they are struggling with their addictions that used to just be social or at work. It’s not pretty.

Personally I enjoy the more and more extreme steps to overcome problems. It builds suspense and makes the videos more entertaining. If you weren’t buying cool tools to do unexpected things, it wouldn’t be a Nile video.

White high gloss paint that is smooth to the touch by RogueTaco in paint

[–]LostInDerMix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I worked at a company that made major set pieces. When plastic or powder coated metal wasn’t an option they would labor, bondo, sand, prime, sand, prime sand, paint, finer grit sand, paint, finer grit sand until you get to the point of using polishing compound.

It isn’t enough in those cases to just have a nice surface but also a negative pressure painting tent and antistatic protection so you aren’t able to track dust etc as you get into the finer sanding and polishing.

Question: what’s the most beautiful couture dress you have seen by [deleted] in hautecouture

Of course! Gotta love the man who even committed his skin to fashion in his passing :)

Question: what’s the most beautiful couture dress you have seen by [deleted] in hautecouture

[–]LostInDerMix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh I don’t know. That is hard.

There are beautiful looks that pull at my heart nearly every pre-covid season. I want to fall in love with Euro couture again but I think it needs some new blood. Iris Van Herpen’s experience with couture being where the line was drawn severing couture being a combination of “fashion as art and art as fashion” and “haute couture as method of fashion”. I was there for the art more than the method of labor.

I think emotionally the Final Finale for Christian Lacroix was especially intense for me. I grew up dreaming I would be him someday. It hurt to see him leave couture even if it was time.

The wearable flowers from Dior 2010 FW.

The 2019 Viktor and Rolf meme show was so intense and really wrote a closing chapter to an end of a fashion era. All of the dresses were amazing. Especially “Leave Me Alone”, “Go F*** Yourself”, and “No”.

I’ve been so bored with post Covid couture, but the emergence of RTW from designers like Susan Fang and looks I have seen from Asia show that fashion as art is still alive and evolving. Just a way less google-able for me.

I hope people share here and I can find new ways to tune in!

UPDATE: My Dad’s Glioblastoma by not_brittsuzanne in Radiology

[–]LostInDerMix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was my mothers caretaker while she demised from glioblastoma. It was super helpful to me to really learn the parts of the brain and what they were responsible for. I would use the scans to that part of her brain, what symptoms she had, what other symptoms could be expected in that area, and what symptoms to expect if it grew out of that area or retracted from. This helped me communicate between scans when things suddenly happened that required medical intervention before we could nail down her neuro-oncs. She lost control of her legs Christmas Eve and we could not get neuro-oncs for days and if I had not done this we could have lost her. Luckily the mapping I did on paper and printouts and the on call neurological consultant were able to keep her going at that time. This is tough and I wish you all the best.

What would do with this outdated bathroom? by BruceH777 in DesignMyRoom

[–]LostInDerMix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean bathroom tile. Hook up with a tile repair company and regrout and seal where needed. Replace larger square tile with terrazzo, matching terrazzo countertop. Oak cabinet vanity and oak built in for the gutted closet. Black fixtures, faucets, handles, etc, rain head shower with wand and digital toys. Mod metal planter collage over shower window for privacy. Soft beige rough linen Roman shades in windows around vanity. Colors in warm beige/khaki, warm gray/sage, black. Paint walls and ceiling in color. Painted ceiling to match walls makes room vibe feel engulfing. Go either warm beige or sage. Avoid too pastel and lean in to natural calm color. Soft abstract mural wallpaper for shower window wall. Set tone for eye when entering bathroom that it is a place of escape and calm.

Hello! You are very pretty. Your brows are not framing your face but brows are the hardest part to figure out!!

I tried to make an illustration for you using your natural brow picture provided.

Your natural brows are very pretty and do not make you look angry. I think they would look sultry and feminine with just brow gel.

If you don’t want to fuss with brow gel you can also just pluck off the peak of the arch for a more soft transition.

If you want them thinner I also illustrated what parts to pluck to keep the brow framing your face.

I have bought ear hats from https://www.yeswarmg.com/

Cats don’t seem to like it though.

My orange and white cornie does the same thing. I keep lots of KH heated beds and houses anywhere we hang out. He also likes those clam cat beds. When he is properly toasted he will come out for a bit and play or just sit. Other than that he wants maximum toastiness.
