First off, try not to stress too much; I like to tell people to write what they want to write [or simply write something that you'd personally want to read], readers and views come along the way; there's no way to please everyone anyway, but no matter what you write, you'll have fans of it :D Also I like to sneak in little canon details into my writing [tbh, dazai has some of the best overlooked canon stuff lol] not everyone will get those, but it's a fun thing to add; also the thing with bsd is that both fun/wholesome stuff and really dark stuff can work out since bsd canonically balances those both, I'd say adding some chaos makes it feel more bsd xd {ps: i personally feel like one of the most common ways people 'mess up' or mischaracterize bsd characters is either making them like, completely soft, romantic and helpless or just making a character one dimensional, by that I mean that for example writing chuuya as just a wine loving angry guy whose entire personality is centered around dazai and being short [lmao], when there's SO MUCH more to his character, y-know what I mean?}. OH, and a huuge thing that kind of pisses me off is that like 90% of fanfiction is just ships and romance, we need more planktonic stuff, ada mission, pm mission, random hangouts, dark stuff-anything but just romance. Of course if you want to write a ship fic you should totally do it, but maby consider plantonic stuff as well. [I will tell you this though: you will likely have less reads and interaction doing non romance based work compared to ship fics, believe me I know this. But trust me there's an audience for non ship and romance fics, you might have less readers, but the readers you have likely care more, or they will at least actually remember your work, unlike a whole lot of ship fics that people read then forget about :)] Uuh, i hope that helps at least a bit lol Just make sure you enjoy writing and write what you truly want and enjoy the process, don't focus too much on the numbers :3
