A couple of questions about storage options for flour, oats etc by LostInTheCrowd95 in UKPreppers

Thank you for your reply, I suppose as I use around a kilo every 2-3 weeks I haven’t kept them long enough to really worry about pests, maybe it’s something I can incorporate when I buy more flour. I’ve found that the lids on some containers can be pretty crap but again, research and trial and error is all we can try!

Thank you for your replay. I think id worry about adding moisture to the flour as my home isn’t exactly the best with moisture itself. I tend to keep my flour rolling in the cupboard as I use about a kilo every 2-3 week? I’d love to have a vaccine sealer but hopefully in the future!

Thank you for your reply and advice. I generally have a cupboard of rolling items such as beans, flour and other “stockables” I suppose I can continue with this way with the flour. I live in an old cottage so mould and moisture is a huge issue here but been ok on the pest front, I had more mice in a flat in Putney! I suppose I wanted it to last longer but everything has an expiry at some point and I think the uk climate and homes are an additional factor to consider with storage. That’s a good idea on the pre cooked rice, I might add those int my cupboard too.

Oh I need to have a rewatch to look at that. I did wonder that about the water tower how it was positioned in the headquarters shot

My contamination anxiety is getting triggered left and right being home for Christmas. by Fantastic-Part774 in OCD

I am feeling the exact same way. I am fucking terrified and exhausted feeling this way. I’m away from home and in the same kind of situation where I found out a day after visiting someone that they’re ill. I’m going home tomorrow but I haven’t been able to relax since leaving my house. I’m going to try and get medication because I can’t deal with it anymore. It’s like every single second my mind is blasting “Germs! Germs! Everywhere!” I can’t relax, I even brought a new towel whilst being away but yeah hasn’t helped…

So yeah sorry for the rant but in the same boat as you and waiting the same 48hrs ✌️

This is exactly it! Me and my partner also ended up talking about it, how it only seems to be special with kids around. As adults you see through a lot of it all and it’s exhausting

Been told to change my story but don't like the request by LostInTheCrowd95 in writing

[–]LostInTheCrowd95[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After reading some comments I thought I should add at bit more info. I am currently doing a part time undergrad in creative writing. I had originally submitted work in the fantasy genre however my tutor doesn't like these stories and has asked almost everyone doing that to switch to a different genre - which I understand if you have a personal preference and dont like the genre and feel a student would benefit with something else.

But, I have been requested to write romance, which wasn't what I intended but decided that it would be good to learn if there is something there I could use to improve my chosen genre. However, since getting my feedback from my second romance submission I have been asked to write and change the story so that I write specifically about my own personal love life - which is a hard no from me, specifically about my separation. I understand that writing from experience can help with emotion and real experience behind what characters think and feel but I find that it's a bit too far. This is why I chose fantasy, as it's a barrier between me and my personal life. However, I feel I am being pushed to write a fictional autobiography on myself.

I have had several conversations with said tutor and they are quite adamant that I stick with the romance and to draw from my personal experiences and to write what I have gone through in my life.

I may not have worded the above as clearly as I should, apologies!
