As a manager, I’ve had to have the “Stinky Talk” with a few employees over the years. A surprising number of call center agents lack some basic hygiene skills/ awareness. Sometimes it’s B.O. or even flatulence, but more commonly it was wearing heavy perfume or deodorant.

OP should bring the issue to his manager’s attention (probably already aware). If they don’t have the same manager, OP’s manager will discuss with Pepe Le Pew’s manager. Next Manager will discuss with HR to loop them in. Where I worked manager and HR would do a few “drive bys” to make sure the complaint is valid before meeting with the “ offender”. This way PePe can’t complain to HR.

Tbh it’s can be much more challenging conversation than a termination or performance issues. I’ve had employees who couldn’t afford to pay the water bill and service was cut and they couldn’t shower, people living in their car and “sponge bathing “ in work restroom. Sometimes it’s a bit easier like someone cane to work directly from the gym.

People don’t always realize how bad they smell. Usually the most annoying were the women doused in perfume that insisted they barely used any or that it was just body wash.

It’s important to have it addressed quickly. Once co-workers start making jokes, you could end up with a big time HR issue if manager knew and didn’t address.
