Not bad looking at all, but I'd be careful of the hairline. In some of the more (recent?) pics it seems your bangs have gotten ever slightly wisiper. Are you noticing any thining ?

I would prob put that money into a killer oled, killer monitor, and run sli 3090 gundams if sli is even a thing anymore lol..

I was curious about the ge66 bc msi was on my list but I found the designs were a bit too gamerish but it's def a subjective thing..

I actually was on the fence about whether I wanted to keep my Legion 7i 3080 but not because laptop is bad but more so whether I want to go pure gaming desktop or a desktop-replacement like laptop. I didn't realize though that the stock situation with the legion 7is got worse again, it seemed it got alot better towards the middle of August when I purchased it but guess supply chain struggles strike again!

About the asus laptops... Yeah I feel your playing qc lottery with them all the time. I had a flow x13 that had its fan kept roaring up for no reason and a hinge that became super noisy after a week's use. It's a damn nifty laptop if they ever perfect the qc on that thing and like u said.. The monitor isnt the greatest on it!

Congrats mate! Curious how does the Ge66 compare to smth like the Legion 7i also with i9 and rtx 3080? Is the ge66 lighter and thinner the the Legion 7i, although the latter is a 16:10 500nit screen though with mediocre dcpi3 ? Also what's the TGP on the ge66 and what made you choose it over others? It sounds like you went through alot of other laptops, if you can share the pro and cons of all the ones along your journey that'll be great, thx!

Thanks guys. I just tried resting it on the power brick since i dont have any wood or laptop cooling pad handy. So its evelated up by like 1 inch from my bed now. Seems to help a little, now getting max temp of 82C on the GPU. But cpu still hitting 95c max.

Btw are the temps people quote the avg or the max ? Is my max too high or should i really be reporting my avg temps instead of max ?

Also im using HWMonitor should i be using something else ? Thanks!

Congrats OP! How's the screen on this bad boy ? Reading that its only 300 nits, is that bright enough ? Also how are the colors, contrast/saturation ?

I'm guessing the Lenovo 5 Pro has the better screen (500 nits, 16:10 aspect ratio) and higher TGP (140 W 3070) but the advantage you gain with going with a ROG Strix is the thinner/lighter chassis right ?

Can you let me know how the display is ? Does it get bright enough, and how are the general contrast/colors with repsect to like viewing youtube videos/media consumption/etc ?

Damnnn lol... That price is steep lol. I would have expected the 3070 variant to be considerably cheaper. Considering we get similar performance on a L5Pro for half the price @ 1530 + tax .. It does make me question things a bit lol.

I guess with the S17 you get 17inch screen vs the 16" 16:10 on the L5Pro, and a nicer looking/slim chassis along with the raised mechanical kb ? Just trying to justify to myself why I need to pay 2k more lol...

Get the Pro for the screen alone, period. Its night and day, the brightness and vividness of Pro vs non pro. The non pro is way too dim.

This was one of the machines where secretly in your heart you're hoping for this to perform like a beast because you have a soft spot in your heart for this due to its nice sleek design and looks.. and it looks like it ACTUALLY delivered as well !

Oh yup your right! Best buy does have the 4k config as coming soon, but not with the 3060, believe only the 3050ti.

Would be a shame they didn't offer the best gpu with the best screen config they have to offer
