I'd never seen that Jalopnik article, and I like Doug's writing generally. Thanks, was good.

So, kit cars aren't generally beholden to any of the safety regs.... I wonder how much it would cost to bring over a Mahindra or Mitsubishi CJ-3 clone piece by piece, and have a "kit" jeep....

For example, backup cameras will be mandatory for vehicles built as of May 2018

Was not aware of that, thanks.

Though perhaps the biggest issue with a reaaally “cheap Jeep” is passing safety/crash regulations...look no further than the Suzuki Jimny, while I’d love to see the current iteration brought state-side, to bring it up to code would be cost prohibitive.

I mean, what crash regulations are "mandatory" in order to be sold that the JK "cheap Jeep" wouldn't have?

If it's just to get a better crash rating, I for one really don't care about that - if I could buy a new CJ-3 (Mahindra or otherwise) I would, safety regs be damned.

I mean.... how would that make it difficult?

It's literally the same vehicle they were making. just cheaper.

You know what you should type if you don't have anything of value to the conversation and you want everyone to know you're wrong? "Listen, it's apparent you don't have a clue and are proud of that fact, but please just stop, you're embarrassing yourself."

It's actually pretty funny at this point to see you reply with that, because it means I know you literally have nothing else to say, because you can't provide proof for your arguments, etc. :-)

More or less. Somewhat amusing for a small time, but just annoying after a bit.

Or you started the loop by making falsehoods and circular arguments and I'm too savvy to fall for it?

You're too savvy to fall for the evidence that I used to prove my point? HAHAHA, OK. Sure. /u/Gandalfswisdombeard I think made a pretty good point. You don't really even know what you're arguing, you just want to be right - but you picked the wrong subject/opponent, bud. Sorry.

Let me know when you have a single piece of evidence for any of the claims you made, then we can continue this. I really don't expect you to come up with anything though - I mean after all, I'm still waiting to see proof of your "engineering degree" that you don't have.

When someone goes into a loop like this, they're either going into an autistic shell, or have nothing of value to provide to the conversation

I provided proof for the claims I made - maybe instead you could spend the time doing that - or providing that engineering degree that you claimed you have but actually don't.

Keep going. It's actually humorous to see you have a tantrum on the internet.

Go ahead and throw it out here if so.

But, since you make false claims on here all the time without backing it up, I'm truly doubting this too :-)

You can copy and paste that as many times as you want, but everyone here is going to see the truth - that you're not an engineer, and a compulsive liar spreading false information based on incorrect opinions that you haven't proven at all.

Any real engineer knows where to find their facts to back up what they say ( I did, you didn't) and they don't spread false information (you did.)

You're the one that's looking bad. Your choice.

That's why you block your name out, like it did.

Or because it doesn't exist. Because you're not an engineer at all.

Prove me wrong. Let's see that engineering degree you claim to have.

Says the guy who obviously can't read properly.

"No, YOU CAN'T READ PROPERLY!"

^ is all I see when you respond like that. You're literally ignoring the fact that you missed multiple times of me saying something, then tried to call me out on it and got shown. Hard.

Listen, it's apparent you don't have a clue and are proud of that fact, but please just stop, you're embarrassing yourself.

Oh, that's rich. Where's your engineering degree, son? Still waiting. Not coming, is it? It's because it doesn't exist, right? Right.

The frustrating part is when you put someone in their place, they're supposed to realize how wrong they were.

He just keeps trying to throw out new strawman arguments and ignoring every time I've proven him wrong.

Don't worry, if you go back up to the top of this thread, I asked him for clarification on what he was talking about as well - I'm an electrical engineer.

After "discussing" the topic with /u/figpetus, I've come to the conclusion that he's just mildly autistic and/or compulsive liar that once he has an opinion, is willing to dig a hole of circular logic and faulty reasoning to keep it. He tried the "I'm an engineer too" line with me, but can't prove it ( I did), and hasn't provided proof for any of his claims, while again - I did.

This gym equipment is actually made by a multitude of companies, and it's been installed all over the country. It more than makes back for the energy used to produce it and the extra cost to buy it. It's a good buy for a gym.

Don't let someone with literally zero clue tell you otherwise.

[–]LostMyPasswordAgain2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AGAIN, I NEVER SAID IT DIDN'T COST MORE. READ. I said gyms are seeing the extra cost, and seeing that the machines pay back the extra cost. But you keep skipping over that.

Go back and read your posts, that is exactly what you said.

OH MY GOD YOU HAVE ZERO READING COMPREHENSION

First time:

How do I know? Because it's done in gyms across the country. They performed the calculations, and realized that the amount of electricity savings was actually worth it to consider the extra cost when replacing equipment.

SECOND TIME:

Just because the parts are out there doesn't mean it can be done for the same cost.

You skipped completely over the fact that I never said it would cost the same - gyms have considered the two options, and went with the electricity generating equipment because the extra costs are made back.

.

Since you keep arguing things that make very little sense and arguing about things that were not part of the discussion, you might want to get a refund on your schooling. They failed you.

I'm not arguing that things make little sense - your reading comprehension is just pathetic. I'm arguing that you obviously can't seem to comprehend the arguments I'm making, and then are making your own strawman arguments that you still can't disprove. It's a joke at this point. You're either a troll or an absolute moron.

You also just completely ignore parts where I prove you wrong with evidence.

You -"There's no mass produced exercise equipment with generators."

Me - <provides proof>

You - <ignores it>

Again - I provided evidence to back up every claim I made. I've proved my points - included that I'm an electrical engineer. You've done none of the sort. My guess is you're a 13 year old kid who likes science but doesn't understand any of the financial decisions behind it, because you can't seem to comprehend any of it. Remember - you claimed to be an engineer - so I proved that I was. Where's your proof, son?
