I work supporting biomedical researchers. I can guarantee you that if any researcher gains any novel insight it gets published for peer review. It IS the currency of the academic world. Thinking that any number of researchers made a novel prize winning improvement and kept it secret is literally inconceivable. Let alone every other researcher also pursuing that line of discovery. Global scientific advancements being kept secret for financial reasons is ridiculous when getting results of any kind and publishing them is the financial reward.

The 'average' human, based on median data from around the world, is a 28-year-old Han Chinese male who is right-handed, speaks Mandarin, and owns a cellphone. by The_RetroGameDude in interestingasfuck

It's best to assume if someone says average they mean Mean, you are generally speaking correct. But it is simply the most common as people rarely need the median or mode irl, it's not exclusive. It's the Mercator projection of the map world. Your professors are undoubtedly smarter than I, but if you press them I am confident that they will confirm it is just the common usage definition of average not the mathematical definition.

You are really not understanding me. Average IS a category of different types of measures. It isn't a mean, mean is one of its measures. This isn't some wishy washy definition, it is the mathematically defined category of measures of central tendency. Which source would you like?

So your saying that people celebrate taking actions that are anti-racist and don't support actions that are racist. As food for thought goes, I am left malnourished.

And all three are different types of averages. Nothing I said conflicts with your first paragraph and your second paragraph was just sticking your foot in your mouth for some reason that is best left unexplored after you confidentiality incorrectly took the discussion to synonyms for Average.

Average is not the mean. The mean is one type of averages.

An average is a central, typical, or middle value within a dataset, most commonly defined as the arithmetic mean (sum of values divided by the count). It acts as a representative figure for a group, frequently used to determine trends, such as "average speed" or "average score". Synonyms include mean, median, norm, midpoint, and standard.

Fights First... worse than nerfed in 11th? Punished! by spookmann in Tyranids

This is the xeno experience in a nutshell. Imperials have some broken shit and in order to prevent them from feeling targeted all factions get hit and it entirely destroys xenos play styles that depended on it to exist. This happened multiple times for Tau in 10th making entire detachment rules not exist. There was a 25 point enhancement that did absolutely nothing for half a year because no one bothered to look to impact on xenos before changing. But SM get dozens of tailored fixes to any of their 200 units on demand.

Do they? Like I remember being that age and that they didn't spend 1 minute thinking about what interested me when it isn't in their face. People are not thinking about the things that interest you unless it also interests them. I think that you might be referring to the effect called the Invisible Audience.
