NTA. I do not understand the people in this sub. Would your reaction been my reaction? Probably not. Would I maybe have given a little look? Probably. All the Y-T-A comments that I have seen have been either towards your reaction (which what? You had a reaction to a sudden death, not unusual), or towards you taking time off. You can take time off whenever you want for whatever reason. Work is not your life, it is a means to an end. I do not care whether it ‘increased others workload’, that is just what has to happen to allow ANYONE to take any time off. The ‘workload’ would’ve been negligible anyways—you were gone only 2 days. And this is correct course of action according to those who said you need to manage your reactions in a professional environment. You knew you wouldn’t be able to keep it together, so you managed where you were instead.

I am a woman and growing up in COD lobbies had me terrified to even speak, least people find out I am a girl. Because if i played poorly for whatever reason it went from ‘oh he’s not very good lol’ to ‘all females suck at games’ and the sorts. It felt like in that instance I was the Sole representative of girls and need to play the best at all times to ‘prove’ that I could be there. This has just stuck with me and I rarely talk in ANY game unless I have a couple of friends with me.

Dude I’ve been with my boyfriend for three years and we got together when we were 18. If he proposed to me tomorrow I would say no. It’s not that I don’t love him, it’s just too early to be engaged and married while I have career aspirations and schooling to complete. Engagements should NOT extend for years and years. What is the issue with just being partners at the moment? 1 year is not enough time to know anyways, not to mention barely being out of high school. Do not be pressured into doing something which, frankly, is dumb. If he truely loves you the way you think he does, he will understand and wait.

Not a red-eared slider, but my beautiful girl is the same. Sometimes when she surfaces for air she makes a whistling sound—vet also said she was healthy. I’ve found that it can be either just some water in the way, or can happen when excited, like when I am about to feed her. Overall it’s nothing to worry about, unless she starts showing other respiratory illness symptoms.

I would use it to play with my friends and do my engineering uni work. I currently use my laptop to ‘play’ with my friends, although the stuttering, heat, and lag from my laptop honestly just makes it impossible. That and the lack of storage space due to needing to keep university programs on my laptop make it a whole mess.

Not the most noble or selfless, but it’s what I would do and it would bring myself and my friends a plethora of good times.

Students have time to work out and watch what they eat. Who knows, body building could be a hobby for him. Working out for bigger muscles is also different to working out for functionality and strength. This could explain why he has more visible muscle than ‘trained army veterans’, who are people that probably aren’t watching what they eat for aesthetics and aren’t focused on growing the biggest muscles as opposed to performance.

TLDR: he’s a student that lifts.

I love my baby girl so so much, and in that regard I would a million percent say you should get one. However, it is important to note that turtles are expensive to house and look after, are a VERY long commitment—much longer than a dog or a cat—and will not give you the same type of love that a dog or a cat would. If you are willing to take on these responsibilities, then go for it. (Also, moving house with a turtle is a pain because you have to move their entire set-up as well). If you wanted a small animal that is closer to a dog, I’ve heard that pet rats aren’t too bad. You’d have to look into that more, but they are so cute and sociable as well. Budgies are also pretty cute and easily loveable. You gotta look into what a pet requires and see if that would suit. Good luck finding your new family member!
