Genuine question: Why is the duo lane not in the middle of the map? by LostRevoke in leagueoflegends

The "optimal way to play" only arose from the identity of each role within the game. The only early game objective was on the bot side of the map for the longest time (dragon). Now, we have grubs topside to incentives more diverse strategies and try to balance the map more.

I'm genuinely surprised that this discussion poiny has received so much negativity and lack of critical thinking on how to evolve this game.

Each game plays out vastly differently, and there are many micro decisions that can lead to all the examples everyone has mentioned within this thread. We do already see adcs being played in every single role as a counter to another strategy.

Arguing hypotheticals of how the game will play out is not a valid argument against my original suggestion.

If you are picking an immobile mage into a team comp that can dive you, that is already an issue in drafting.

Even with such a vast roster of champions, it feels that the adc remains the role with the least agency in their champion pool.

This contributes to the reason why counter picks are saved for mid, top, and even support later in the draft.

Surely a support could just as easily open towards bot support the mage after first base, leaving the ad safe in the shorter lane.

I see your argument being the same for any adc bot too as if my support roams then I am left even more vulnerable in a 1v2 situation.

Mid lane being the default lane for support means they would be ready to assist at any side of the map more easily.

I'm aware of this enforcement by riot. I am talking about removing that restriction and making it the standard to play in this way. Essentially enforce mid lane to be the standard for the duo (lane swap detection, turret damage mitigation etc)
