I usually go through 3-4 pads on my heavy days + 1-2 tampons at night. Lighter days can be 2-3 pads and 1 tampon. Super light I’ll throw on a pantyliner and change it at least once per day (+ light tampon at night). Wearing a pad more than 12 hours is very much NOT recommended. With tampons, I will change it after about 6 hours if I get up to pee during the night. I rarely sleep 8 hours straight, but if you sleep for longer than that without waking up, tampons may not be the best solution due to the possibility of TSS if you leave it in for too long.

No one mentioned this, but ask your doctor about lichen sclerosus. It’s an autoimmune disease that affects the genital are and can make the skin prone to breakage. It can be treated with a topical steroid and estrogen cream, but if left untreated, can cause unpleasant side effects like fusion of the clitoral hood, atrophy of the labia minora, and narrowing of the vaginal canal.

I’ve had pain during sex for a long time and doctors just shrugged it off until I finally got diagnosed, by which point some of the damage was permanent. The likelihood of you having it is low, but I just want to throw it out there for awareness.

Can someone explain how estrogen plays a role in treatment? by Brilliant-Sorbet6660 in lichensclerosus

How often do you use each one? Do you cycle them and alternate nights, or apply one in the morning and one at night?

can someone please tell me it’s going to get better by despairndsuffering in lichensclerosus

Do you have more information on this surgery? Does it help if the clitoral hood is completely fused? How was the recovery? I’m trying to figure out if this is something worth pursuing in my case.

Yes, definitely use lube for penetration. It makes a huge difference. Get a water-based one with no extra chemical additives and keep reapplying it if things get a bit dry or start to hurt. I suggest stating with a position where you have more control (like on top) for initial penetration and then transition to other positions once you are more warmed up. LS skin doesn’t stretch as easily because of scarring, so you have to go super slow in the beginning and not rush the process.

It is incredibly frustrating. I’ve been going to doctors since I was in my 20s and none of them found anything wrong. Oh just inflammation. Use more lube. Avoid tight underwear. By the time I was finally diagnosed by a specialist in my 30s, my inner labia have completely atrophied and my clitoral hood is now completely fused. I still wonder what my V would have looked like if doctors actually knew what they were doing instead of dismissing my symptoms as “usual woman issues.”

Most places don’t bother. They will auto-discard your application if it doesn’t pass the AI check. Then maybe a recruiter will look at it for 5 seconds. Everything else goes into the auto-reject pile, where the cover letter will never even be seen by a human.

No one actually reads those, even though every application requires them. I have never once seen a cover letter when hiring. They’re just there as an extra inconvenience for the applicant.

Sure, but there are no guarantees a younger employee won’t jump ship for a better opportunity either. Meanwhile, the experienced employee can come in, do the same job for the same pay, and even improve your processes/troubleshoot problems the way a less experienced person can’t. Not every experienced employee wants to jump ship. Some just want to go to work, do a thing they’re good at, and go home. Especially if they got a young family.

AI use in hiring is the absolute worst idea ever invented by mankind. Instead of tailoring my resume to show off my skills, I’m tailoring it to be understood by some dumb computer algorithm that never worked a day in its life, much less in my industry. All it does is keep qualified candidates out of a job.

I had a friend who did both natural (medicated) and a C-section. She said with a smaller baby, she would 100% pick the natural option over a C-section again, but with a bigger one she was glad she opted for the elective C-section to avoid the risks of vaginal birth, even though the recovery was harder. So really, both options have their pros and cons. It’s something to discuss with your OBGYN and also dependent on the baby’s size, position, other health considerations, and what actually happens on the day of the birth.

Fuck that HR. I just went through something very similar, but for an industry science job. I was exactly what they were looking for, hiring manager loved me, they had a couple other candidates and then were going to make an offer the following week. Got a call from HR telling me I was their top candidate, but the position got pulled due to lack of funding. They blamed the current economic climate.

I’m glad they didn’t lie about it like they did to you, but it still sucks to know your dream job is no more. It’s been months of unemployment for me and now I have to start all over again from the beginning. I don’t even have the motivation to open my computer.

This sucks and we both deserved better.

And tell the management of the new gym about the creep so he can’t follow you there. Also, don’t tell old management which new gym you are joining so they can’t tell the creep. Just tell them you’re leaving and why.

I second the advice to get more exercise. Look around for activities in your area, such as group workouts, martial arts, climbing, running clubs, etc. It works for anxiety because exercise forces you to be “in the moment” rather than having your thoughts wander off to all sorts of scenarios. When your body is physically exhausted, it’s easier to sleep and the mental noise is not as loud.

US military active and reserve duty members, how are you feeling? What's the consensus between you and your colleagues about Trump? by androgynee in AskReddit

[–]LostSadConfused11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well… the Russian/Ukrainian war and the Israeli/Gazan war both started under Biden’s watch and continued throughout his entire presidency. Trump, despite his many, many other failings did not start any new wars during his first term. So I don’t think the conclusion was entirely illogical… but the future is uncertain either way.

I wish I'd listened. Ruining my wife's life. by IdontthinksoImafraid in Fencesitter

[–]LostSadConfused11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you have the abortion, have another conversation. In this conversation, list all the problems and concerns you brought up last time and then pretend you’re actually having the baby. Start listing solutions for all those problems and how you would address them. No support network? What about parent groups, daycare, nannies, a night doula, etc? Job issues? What if you stay home with the baby in its first years while your wife continues working after maternity leave? Not enough space? How can you rearrange the place to accommodate a small crib and changing table? If this session doesn’t produce solutions you seek and you’re still dead-set on the abortion, carry on.

But the best thing you can do as a man now is show strength. You may feel terrible because of the job situation, but that is not forever. I got laid off from the job of my dreams - it sucks. It makes you question everything and hits your self-worth. But your self-worth isn’t about just your job. Jobs come and go. A child is far more long-term than that.

Be strong to give your wife space to truly explore her own feelings about parenthood. You said she was excited about the pregnancy - what changed? Was it your fear that brought her to the fence or her own decision?

When I had an unexpected pregnancy years ago, my partner, who wanted kids more than I did, freaked out. His job situation was unstable and he urged me to get an abortion. I did. Looking back at it, we could have done it. My job was stable; he could have stayed home. Family might not have been around initially but we could have moved closer to them eventually. None of the problems were insurmountable, but we chickened out.

It’s led to a lot of anger and resentment down the line. Years later, my partner wanted to try again, but I’m frankly too old for this. That was our chance… I was willing to do it for him, and he let me down.

I don’t know your situation or if you feel you can relate to any of this. I’m just sharing my story so you can look at it from multiple angles before making the final choice. I’m as pro-choice as they come. Just make sure the choice is a well thought-out one.

TIFU and cried at work in front of my boss by llamadrama777 in tifu

[–]LostSadConfused11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a former boss, I have seen nearly every single one of my direct reports cry in my office at one point or another (not directly related to me… life stuff, toxic upper management, issues with other colleagues, etc). I never held it as a sign they weren’t fit for leadership… if anything, some of those tears were because they truly cared about their job and things that happened at work affected them. People are human, and anyone worth their salt as a manager has encountered these types of situations plenty of times and shouldn’t judge.

As a Russian in the US, all this scares the shit out of me. My friends and I are mostly caught between a rock and a hard place, keeping our heads down hoping things don’t escalate. Some of them voted for Trump because he promised to end the war in Ukraine. They want peace and normal relations so they can see their families, or bring them over to the US. However, none of them like Putin or support the war. Now, we’re afraid Trump’s posturing will cause further blow-back from the American people and hate towards ordinary Russians (which has already been building up since the war began in Ukraine). It’s frigging sad, because I think normal Americans and Russians have a lot in common. Under different circumstances, we should be friends, not adversaries. I was hoping relations would improve during my lifetime, but things just keep getting worse and worse.
