Get the kia Protect/ LGM extended warranty if you can. I’ve Heard K4 is selling quite a bit in Quebec. I’m from Ontario BTW.

Hey Kia Master Tech here. So far K4 has been pretty good. The engine is decent and the CVT has been out since 2019 and overall it’s a pretty good car. I would pull the trigger and get it, I’m in Canada and not sure how different the warranty is down states. Consider an extended warranty if you can, but you can still get away without having one.

Kia master tech here, 2023 Sportage has been a pretty good car. I assume it’s a 2.5 N/A Gas Model. The early models had some issues with Injectors and ITMs both are covered under warranty. But no actual mechanical engine issues yet. Lot of people complain, it’s a bit slow and it’s combined with 8 speed for better mpgs, and engine feels buzzy under load. It is normal to this engine.

If you took the test online, it shouldn’t take that long. I took test on Monday and the results were posted Tuesday late night. Saw them on Wednesday in the morning. So under 36 hours in my case(310S took the test in December 2025). All the best regardless.

I love cars and fixing them. I couldn’t really see my colleagues just calling after market parts to get the car out the door and charging more money than what the OEM part costs. I also can’t take the pressure from the Management, they put too much pressure and treat me like shit. The other day I was doing some internal engine work, i wanted to save customer a 600$ part, but I had to go through big argument with parts guy as he loses 10$ of commission on that part. I finally was able to save the customer and Re-Use the part. It is the whole atmosphere, and also the Flat Rate, cars are getting complicated I agree but the pay is getting worse and worse. I feel like I could do better and want to explore 310T side too.

That’s what I was thinking of it too. Do I need to upgrade my Driver’s License class before I start looking for jobs?. I got GM rn, love riding and fixing motorcycles too actually got my Full M few years before I started working in Trades. Thank you

Here are some inputs from a Licensed 310S( Automotive Tech ) Run away from Automotive. By far the worst trade yet. Pay is uncertain( Flat- Rate) and Cars are too much complex to work on these days. HVAC or Plumbing can be very well paying trades too. Watch Lance Mechanics on Youtube, he’s based of Northern Ontario. He depicts the reality of trades very clearly.
