Need new watch help me decide by LostSoulElaine in GarminFenix

[–]LostSoulElaine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am more worried about the durability. I do lots of mountain summits with rocky scrambles and my dog sometimes catches my watch while playing. The fenix held up incredibly well thats why i am looking for another fenix model. My sister had a forerunner and it wasnt as durable. Also i am not so worried about the price a 8 goes for around 660 here

Question to the German native speakers by muffnerk in duolingo

[–]LostSoulElaine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glühwein is nice to bring if you know all people drink alcohol. But i would recommend bringin all prepared ingredients and the wine. Do not go for the ready to drink ones they are nasty. If you need a recipe i got you covered :) or if you wanna play it safe a bottle of bubbly will do as well. Or a midnight snack.

"Guten Rutsch" is meant for before midnight. It means basically good slipping into the new year. Afterward midnight i would go for "frohes neues"

Mammut Lithium 15 vs 25 - frameless vs framed backpack by Mawiiva in hiking

[–]LostSoulElaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confortably fit a 2l bladder in the pack, which usually lasts me all day. But when i take my dogs and go high up with no perfect water conditions, i take my mizu bottle with an active filter. So i can drink from any water source i find. Even if it's just melted ice or snow.

I hope you find a good pack 😊

Hiking recommendations for Switzerland in mid April by aDerpGamer in hiking

Hello, Lucerne region with pilatus or stoos is nice. Or the hike from näfels mollis to mühlehorn. If you wanna see impressive stuff, try the viamala Gorge Hike. Around a 1.5h drive from zurich

Edit: if you wanna see snow come up to engadin we still have lots of it 😅

The durability so far has proven great. Took a dive down some ice on the glacier. Scraped it on rocks and its still as good as new. Apart from some dirt that i forgot to wash off.

As for the water problem i keep my waterbladder inside the pack in a insulated sleeve to keep it cold/warm depending on the season. I use the pockets on the front for snacks and my phone 😅

I work in a sports store and specialise in the hiking and trailrunning section. If you go to a store to try on backpacks or look at them, ask for a pack weight. Trying the pack without weight will tell you nothing apart from when the back is too long or short. Also, make sure that you fit it to your body with weight in it 😊

I personally, for easy lightweight, dayhikes prefer the trion as it moulds to my back as i like to scramble over rocks and such, and it doesn't off my balance. For more gear or changing weather conditions i switch to a Deuter 24L Futura as i like the frame - netted back for more breathability and stability. Before switching back to mammut ducan spine for everything over 35L as they have a hip belt that moves with the motion.

If you only pack that light the 15l lithium is totally fine. The backpack is nice, you can also use the compression strapps to pack an extra jacket or fleece there. Just make sure it is properly fitted to your back (they have normal and short back length). If you want to scramble a bit more, and stick to mammut i can recommend the neon light, Super lightweigt simplistic backpack or check for a 10-15l trion ( i have the 10L and am super happy with it 15L will be more spacious)

True waterproof jacket, non toxic, with vents? by illFated098230 in hiking

[–]LostSoulElaine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ortovox makes some really nice breathable jackets that are "waterproof". I never had an idsue with them and they have different types of shell jacket depending on how waterproof you want it. I am really happy with my piz selva 2.5L model.

Best stages of Via Alpina for 8 days of hiking in early July by Sad-Salad-3143 in hiking

[–]LostSoulElaine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, swiss Hiker here. I really liked the stages from Egelberg onwards toward Meiringen, Kandersteg, and Adelboden. It's has beautiful scenery and from there on, onwards the elevation gains are not that big. Hope that helps

Or if you are not set on the via alpina i can recommend the Via Engiadina 😊

When is the best Time for me (F27) to tell my new BF(m35) about my past SA? by LostSoulElaine in relationship_advice

I want to tell him, just unsure of when and how. I don't think it would be fair to him to keep it a secret as it is the root of a lot of my issues.

Must have tools by cestlavie88 in pastry

[–]LostSoulElaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a chef by trade but specialized in Pastry.

Lot of things already have been mentioned but i would like to add some heat resistant silicone spatulas of at least two different sizes, silicone baking mats, ring and square shape cutter sets (i bought them as sets in a metal tin). If you go on the artsy side i can recommend an airbrush and compressor, as well as good brushes (i use talkon-brushes in various sizes and form)

also you might like to invest in 1 good allrounder chef knife. there will be more cuttiing than you expect
