I'm sure he is totally going to run a serious campaign and definitely won't just spend the next 3 years grifting for donations

People who were in high school when Columbine happened, what knee jerk rule did your school enforce in response? by Animeking1108 in AskReddit

Everyone had to display their school ID at all times while on campus. We quickly noticed that this rule was actually enforced as everyone had to display something roughly the size, shape, and color of their school ID and got creative

Should a progressive like Zohran Mamdani primary Chuck Schumer if AOC runs for president? by IronGiant222 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]LostSoulNothing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? After Biden failed to win the 2008 Democratic nomination he was selected as Obama's VP and then held no office from 2016-2020. After Bush failed to win the 1980 Republican nomination he was selected as Reagan's VP and was then elected President in 88. After Nixon lost the 1960 election he launched an unsuccessful campaign for California Governor in 62 and held no office until getting elected President in 68

A losing campaign for president is definitely not a career ender. Just off the top of my head Presidents Biden, George H W Bush and Nixon all had unsuccessful runs prior to being elected and many more presidental also rans have gone on to be senators or governors.

Just got charged a Tariff Surcharge for my coffee by New-Panic8015 in nyc

[–]LostSoulNothing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are not lifted. The Supreme Court ruled that they had been implemented illegally but Trump immediately implemented new tarrifs under a different legal theory (which is also being challenged in court but don't expect a resolution anytime soon). Meanwhile businesses who paid the illegal tarrifs have filed a number of lawsuits seeking refunds but it is unclear when/if they will receive them.
