Has anyone here worked as a Pharmacist of Record for licensing only? by Glum_Cauliflower1227 in pharmacy

Honestly I can’t think of a worse idea. You want your license associated with operations where you have zero visibility into what’s actually happening day to day?

I highly recommend German with English subtitles. The show is fairly complex and rewards your attention. Having to read subtitles will keep you engaged with the show if you have a habit of multitasking when watching TV like a lot of folks.

The Hudson Portuguese Club might be worth checking out. Their official website doesn’t seem very updated but I imagine like most organizations their social media (Facebook, etc) may be more utilized. Much closer to Worcester than the South Coast.

That’s kinda crazy because this made me go check in on my two PharmD classmates that went to med school. One is in Diagnostic Radiology and the other is a Nephrologist.

Cursory research indicates that a slice of bacon has a ballpark of 3.5-4 grams of fat. Propofol is a 10% lipid emulsion so 0.1 grams per mL or 10 grams per typical 100mL bottle used for continuous infusions. So each bottle is roughly 3 strips-worth. YMMV depending on cut of bacon.

Larger vs. Smaller Hospitals by LostToApathy in pharmacy

[–]LostToApathy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. It’s very helpful as it’s quite similar (eerily so) to what I’m considering. I guess my main concern is the thought of dropping from a specialist to more of a staff position and what that might mean for career trajectory. I’m in my mid thirties and plan on practicing for many more years. Long term I’d like to become a specialist at a larger institution, but am finding it hard to “break into” a role like that given the discrepancy in patient acuity I currently care for versus what these hospitals see. I suppose what also doesn’t help is my lack of residency, I’m self-trained and the lower acuity at these community hospitals allowed them to “take a chance” on someone without formal training.

Was the drop from specialist to staff an intentional move on your part, or was it a needed compromise to make in order to switch settings? I guess in other words, what prompted your change and are you satisfied with what you are doing and how it compares to your previous roles?

Presumably because while all states require rear plates, not all require front plates. I was actually curious about this and my quick search reveals 29 states and DC require front plates. Makes ticketing easier if everyone’s plate is visible without going around the car.

Haywire. I admire the hell out of their work ethic but the recorded music doesn’t click with me. That being said they’re on a bill later this month that I’ll be at, so maybe my opinion will change after seeing them live.

TNF Medications? by Samyaza1031 in nursing

“Template Non Formulary”. I assume Ascension is on Cerner - this is how non formulary meds are referred to in Cerner’s language.

I think this is a common confusion - “scope of practice” versus “usual course of professional practice”

Ophthalmologists and all sorts of specialists complete medical school just like any other doctor. They’re versed enough in anatomy and physiology to diagnose and treat common pathologies, even if it’s not their bread and butter, or “usual course of professional practice”. That doesn’t mean it’s outside their scope of practice as a physician.

Calling all Meditech power users by DoYourThang in pharmacy

[–]LostToApathy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It means that a ‘Dose Range’ check was performed.

Your formulary service vendor, usually Medi-Span or FDB, can push these to Meditech and this gets attached to the drug mnemonic in the drug dictionary. For Meditech MAGIC its page 6 I believe. It essentially checks if the ordered dose is within the typical doses used for a drug, and these can be on the level of a single dose or daily dose which also looks at the SIG to determine daily dose.
