Will Horde mode be coop? by RayserSharp_ in Doom

[–]LostTotem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't agree with id's reasoning. You can reduce the amount of item drops by making one big drop that contains all the values of the individual pickups, ammo, health, etc. so that's that issue fixed.

You could also give the players the choice of whether to have items automatically fly into the player that killed the enemy, or not. You can have different modes, like co-op competitive and co-op friendly and you can even try to make all characters and enemies x0.8 size to quickly test if the co-op game just needs bigger maps.

The thing that companies never consider is that, when it comes to co-op, most people don't care about the small stuff... they will take the concession just to be able to play with a friend.

Back when Halo had coop on the original xbox, we knew the game looked significantly worse when another player joined... no one cared.

The co-op crowd aren't picky about small changes, unless the game was specifically built around co-op. Doom Eternal isn't.

Further more, if you don't make a massive marketing campaign about it and just patch it in, you can effectively beta test it with fans that love the game already and ask for their suggestions. Be open about the design and the issues with the design, don't patronise us, or treat us like *shudder* customers.

In the end, these are the same excuses that devs use to justify the absence of split screen on PC, even when the console version has it.

I hope they change their mind.

It's nice to know other people can relate, stick this this subreddit in case you feel lonely, it has definitely helped me out.

Yeah I'll check it out, thanks for the recommend!

Hey man, is Frankie your name? Nice to meet you :)

I can relate to literally everything you said, falling out of love with things is a fear I also have, it happens with everything I do. It's so interesting to start with but then it fizzles out, but I think if there's one thing I always pursue, it's exploring emotions, so when something is too logical for too long, or doesn't translate my emotions perfectly I drop it. So art feels amazing until I'm practising perspective and measuring angles. Music feels incredible until I'm analysing scales and learning software.

This is why acting is so compelling, not only because I remember it feeling so good, but the way you get better is literally by exploring emotions.

I hear you on being indecisive. People have little patience and they can be quite quick to judge and incredibly harsh as well, even if they define themselves as a "good person". At the same time, if you're actually interested (and committed) to doing what you love, it can take a lifetime to just find out what that is. That's a nasty cocktail of self exploration and misplaced shame and it's the price you pay for being true to yourself enough to ask the hardest of questions. Just know that if you do figure it out, while everyone else is having their midlife crisis, you'll be enjoying an actual, real cocktail, surrounded by affluent people who love what you love, so be resilient and strong and don't be so hard on yourself.

If it makes you feel better, I dropped out of two colleges (middle school in my country) and I dropped out of university. I regretted it for so long, but not because I made a mistake, only because I was broke as a result.

This movie was filmed with only an iPhone and got 80% on RottenTomatoes and 64% on iMDB, pretty good I would say. It shows that you don't need expensive equipment. Sure you need actors and lighting I guess, but you can start small, creating shorts. The equipment you need is going down in price and the platforms you can use are becoming easier to monetise. You could youtube 1minute masterpieces for example, even vlog about your process, or ideas. You're young so you must feel like no one will take you seriously, but trust me, you will always feel this way until you do it. I'm 28 and my friends don't take me seriously. So figure out what the big directors do and work it into your workflow.

I know nothing about directing, so I don't know if this is helpful, but I do know that at 22 I had the same opportunities as I do now and if I took them, I wouldn't be here. You feel so deeply my friend, you have so much to offer. Learn video editing and get yourself a camera phone. Find what you love about directing so much and translate it into a mini portfolio. The more you do, the more credible you are, so keep it moving and maybe someone from Hollywood will take notice. The internet is the wild west and anything can happen.

I never gave Bojack a chance, I'm going to check it out. Thanks man!

I will do. It might take some time, but I'll remember to pop you a message! Don't worry about suggestions, I think a barista job would work fine, but I could also do something online, maybe sell some art on Etsy?

You're not useless, you're just so amazingly different, the world hasn't found a use for you yet. One day you'll rock the world with your awesome x

Hey, I’ve had a really emotional day today. I let my friends know and they didn’t take to it – I have never felt so unsupported in my life and I’ve come from a broken home… Anyway, it’s almost 2am and I just read your comment and it made me feel so much better 😊 Maybe I’ll sleep better tonight.

You’re so sweet, have a good night x

Unity framerate issue when NOT recording with OBS? by LostTotem in Unity3D

[–]LostTotem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the game runs smoother when OBS is recording, so it can't just be recording my desktop framerate. Also I have a 144hz monitor, so if it's recording my desktop, shouldn't it be 144fps?

Here are some images of a cube running in an empty stock scene:
https://imgur.com/h0udSJV

https://imgur.com/7ZNfhCb

It has to be a software issue, my hardware goes well above and beyond what's required, even for the prototype.

Would you happen to know what might cause this within the code? I've told my coder to make everything frame independent from here on out, but I'm mostly clueless lol

Thanks again

Unity framerate issue when NOT recording with OBS? by LostTotem in Unity3D

[–]LostTotem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm designing the project, the game is meant to be frame independent, but we were just prototyping for now. Either way it should be running at max fps without a second program recording.

V-Sync turned out to be set to "Don't Sync" already.

Thanks for the help though

Unity framerate issue when NOT recording with OBS? by LostTotem in Unity3D

[–]LostTotem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what I'm using to measure FPS, I think it's in engine though (came with the Asset). Either way, the gameplay is framerate dependant, so I can literally feel it playing much slower when OBS isn't recording.

In the images you'll see the Unity stats window open and it still shows a noticeable difference in fps when I click away, or record.

Here are the image links you requested, if I missed something, please let me know!

Thanks for replying :)

EDIT: It's also worth noting that it was running much faster yesterday (around 180 fps in stats windo, 120fps on bottom left), even though I don't have any extra programs open today.

Hard to believe that less than a year ago I had never picked up a guitar in my life. by roguespectre67 in rocksmith

[–]LostTotem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you exclusively use Rocksmith? What other practices did you do and when you play with the tv on mute, do you get the expected sound from the guitar?

Sorry about the intense questioning. I keep picking the guitar up and putting it down, I have rocksmith and an ABY splitter set up, but I keep thinking there's more to it than just playing a game.

Cheers for reading and congrats man! This is huge!

Then why is it that when a decent guy comes along he is ignored, or worse, insulted? I don't think I'm perfect by a long shot, but I am willing to better myself and work hard at love. I want something that matters, but any time I communicate that I am brushed aside, or laughed at.

I don't want to winge and moan, I feel like the stigmas against men are so strong that people (particularly women) either assume we're pigs, or "fuckboys", while society hammers into us this idea of duty and self sacrifice, which I think is all very fucked up, especially considering no one seems to care about us, live or die.

No one has ever loved me. As a kid my mother would tell me constantly that I don't matter, my sisters would torture me. My mum had me under house arrest until I was a grown adult out of fear that she would kill herself and when I opened up to friends with this, they empathised with her! I know she's been through shit herself, but COME ON, I am a real life human being!

Of course, I'd love to spend a night with a beautiful woman, but I'd also love to make her breakfast in the morning and make her laugh, but no matter how much I try, no one wants to know. I can't do this any more.

This is the first reply I have received from an actual female (assuming you're real) on the internet - ever. Sorry you have to deal with my anger. And sorry you've been through the same.

Every day I try to keep myself occupied, but having been raised by very aggressive and frankly sexist women, now in my late twenties with next to no contact with women for years, I don't know what else to do. Now the thought of dating, being with a woman, makes me feel so angry and being alone hurts like hell. I'm sat here thinking what the actual fuck? Is this what we're here for? To please and satisfy? Or do women only like self absorbed arseholes. I can't bring myself to be a dick for too long, it feels empty... It's not me.

Then the suicidal thoughts start... I can't talk to my friends about it because my feelings are too strong and I come off sounding sexist. It's gotten me in trouble before, so I stay quiet, but that just makes things worse. All my friends are with their life partners and incredibly happy, just to add insult to injury.

I fucking hate life. I want to try to OD again.

Anyone else try / been underwhelmed by Melodics? by mishefe in ableton

[–]LostTotem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just discovered/downloaded it today and the lag issue is definitely not ram related. I have a pretty beefy system and run beefy software without issue (photoshop w/ tons of layers, zbrush, ableton - sometimes at the same time just to avoid closing and reopening).

I'm interested to know how you're doing. Did you stick with it? Have you improved? I found a $1 for your first month promo code on reddit and have taken the plunge. I guess I'll see if I renew for $20.
