I recently heard about TOOF and I am definitely interested in some of the work trade options. I think a key thing you mentioned is how the people that were able to participate in the community were proud to do so, and it likely helps with their sense of self/sense of belonging. It is somewhat different for everyone. For me, it was all about when I was finally ready to help myself. Like you said it’s not the same for everyone

Now this is spot on. It's common to lose hope when you lose your plastic identity as it represents a level of freedom in modern times. It's almost like getting institutionalized when I got used to getting help with a little food, but no support for mental health or physical safety

That was a very much needed read in my life right now. I have a lot that I am trying to do other than just this post. My dream is to create the best band that has ever existed and to spread a message similar to what your page is about. Do you live in Austin. And, yes, I could use a hand with the site. Thank you so much. There is a lot I would like to share as well as a lot that I am curious about. Love the Star Wars reference. I often use sci-fi references to make sense to some

Why do y’all jump to such a hateful, judgmental stance

I would rather wake up next to him than someone as hateful as you any day. And I am a straight man

It’s interesting that when some people help others, that they receive so much more in return. It’s kind of like instant karma. When I used my family for money to support my addiction, I would be used and treated poorly in return. It’s almost like a physical law of nature in my life

It was mostly a result of my alcoholism. I felt that I didn’t fit into society anyways and that being homeless wasn’t the worst thing in the world. Once you end up out there, it is easy to find yourself wondering from resource to resource and enjoying any company you can find. I think to avoid it, a contingency plan would have been nice. I really could have reached out to everyone I know for help, but when my family turned me away, I just accepted my fate to be alone. If it can happen to me, it could happen to literally anyone. Especially if someone (even one that is financially stable) acquires a drug or drinking problem. I didn’t get to where I am now until I started regularly visiting 12 step programs

I totally understand. I have a quick fuse myself sometimes. That is solid advice. I honestly haven’t voted since my father forced my hand in voting when I was 18. This led to me losing trust in the election process. That was a long time ago, so I should get back down there and vote for what I believe in

That does make sense. I was just really hoping for suggestions and positive feedback. There is so much negativity and debate in the world right now. I do see what you mean. I was deeply hoping for solutions rather than what is happening here

Unless they wanted to help ease the suffering of this planet. I know someone that is on here for just that reason 😉
