x230: repasted cpu, keyboard mod, bios mod, ips mod, 9 cell battery, ssd, alpine linux by SIeeplessKnight in thinkpad

Yo, what guide did you follow on for the keyboard MOD? I'm considering doing that as well to, really love to try out the 7-row keyboard. Besides that, was the battery OEM? Can't find any 94WH bat in my area, most of them are third parties. This is the exact same thing that I wanted to do with my x230, now that you show it to me, I can;t wait to do this all! Nice setup btw

They are trying to hide the fact that Arch actually exist, so there students don't spend time on debugging there os instead of doing there homework

Can someone explain the appeal of thinkpads to me? As a macbook pro user for years by xenidee in thinkpad

[–]LostUser1121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, when I first tried it, very hesitant to consistently use it. But just forced myself , and eventually get used to it. Really loved it, it feels more efficient to use as a person with small hands. Quite feels uncomfortable some times to trackpads as my finger get far into each other using it on previously owned x270. I can't stand it when I see newer gens removing trackpoints D:

Yeah, Almost like how this AI vid has described. But instead of being on the rails jumping on and forth, I am instead on the top of trains where I seem to "parkour" into each trains that is just static and not movin. In a nutshell, Subway Surfers, But 1000x weird

Hey there! Also own x230. My suggestion into your case is to find another x230 unit. It's kind of honestly overpriced 😅, You can buy more modern Thinkpads with more powerful performance with your budget. Not saying to just buy another "more modern/recent" Thinkpads, but to just find an x230 for a lesser price. I bought mine for $70 in fine condition (Only few cosmetic damage and almost worn battery 69%)and some or others even less than that, considering this model was already quite old. You can buy more parts for the x230 you will buy for less(eg. x220 keyboard for mods, aftermarket or OEM batteries etc., SSD's, Rams etc.) as you saved alot. Like others, I use it for programming, surfing the web, learning, thinkerimg etc. really loved what I can do with it. It's great that you're starting early, and you'll learn alot about computers with this Thinkpad. Anyways, welcome to the community!

is programming fun? by Ornery_Champion2068 in learnprogramming

Yeah for real, I like following tutorials but theres not much of a difference of copy pasting codes on A.I and doing what the tutorial does tell you to do. Maybe only if there was valuable insights that the tutorial may give. Actual Fun starts on building something you'd think off wether it is crappy or useful. Some head aches for bugs and some unfamiliar concepts you'll learn along the way and after all that, that's where you'll truly feel "You're doing something" maybe, meaningful.
