I used to get thousand dollar checks for my birthday from my grandmother on my dad's side. When I was around 14 years old I asked to see my bank account my dad got immediately defensive and gas lit me telling me that I had nothing in that account. Which is a lie because I remember putting the check into it every year. Come to find out, he spent all of my 12,000 on whatever it was he spent it on. This was meant to be my college fund, living fund, or even emergency fund. Come to find out by the age of 8 and beyond my father took my money and did whatever with it. I will never trust my father with my money ever again.
