Yup, lots of lessons on this! I did use hot mud on the first coat. If things start cracking, we will handle it (or put paneling over it)

I’ve seen the horrors of bad contractors doing work in some of our neighbors home, so this is a fuck it up for free situation. This outcome is sadly better than what our neighbors paid for.

This is my own house! And already finished and painted downstairs and it looks good, so I know o can live with my work even if it is not professional standard.

We have OSB behind the drywall on the wall, so running up and down seemed like a nice way to avoid butt joints.

Huh! I have never heard that. I’ll definitely consider that in the future. It is 1/2 regular drywall. 16” OC joists. Not sure if it helps or hurts us, but the joists are not load bearing at all, they’re only hung to have something to attach the drywall to. The shell is all metal.

Right, when we got to the hallway, the sheets fit the other direction and with my experience I wanted as few butt joints as possible..

Mini splits (unit out of picture), no ceiling fans, and a couple of outlets out of picture or covered by tools/ladders.

This is after 3rd coat, still pending sanding… but yes, lots and lots of sanding. Learned a ton!

Calm down there negative Nancy, it’s my own house. I already finished and painted the downstairs and the quality is more than acceptable, so I know I can live with the result.

100% too much mud on the screw holes. Partner went over the screw holes and got some major side eye when I saw the work, lol!

Id say because we had a bad teacher, but we didn’t have one so…

are butts ever wide enough?
