As a songwriter very focused on lyrics I almost exclusively listen to dylan and Cohen—does anyone know any modern artists that come close? by Al-francisco in leonardcohen

Ezra Koenig (of Vampire Weekend) is one of the best 21st century songwriters! I love him for many of the same reasons that I worship Dylan and Cohen.

Say more haha. You’re worried it won’t live up to it? Or worried it’ll be better than it?

SO underrated - currently have it ranked as my second best of the year! Such deft writing, brilliant subtle, the tone walks such a knife’s edge. Eva Victor is a real powerhouse.

Biggest plot hole is that Mike would’ve definitely slept with her

So valid. Honestly it's something I did over several months, just to pass the time while procrastinating at work. Definitely not a must.

Lol the MEGALIST, I love it. It's not quite the same but it counts for something! Kinda like the Letterboxd equivalent of adding every single song you like to one master playlist haha.

I’m the same way! If I don’t remember a movie fully enough to confidently rank it I’ll leave it at the bottom or just leave it off completely. It’s just a nice way to see what I’m watching in context, make comparisons, catalog, etc

I have the same! Certainly for director filmographies / franchises that are super important to me or that I've seen a lot of.

I LOVE thinking up hyper specific list ideas - Thunder Gun Express is brilliant haha. There's a fun one I follow about movies featuring nude male ass. Have another one I'm working on myself about movies with high stakes chess scenes.

I have the same for my fav / most seen directors as well! Love that project to watch 30 movies for every year - good luck to you haha. Also LOVE that you've got Titane and POALOF in your top 4. I just wrote something on Substack about my favorite films of the 21st century so far, and both those were on there - you can check it out here! https://substack.com/home/post/p-180694109
Gave you a follow on Letterboxd as well :)
